Ron Paul: ‘Pretty obvious’ Rand preparing for presidential run

Not sure if this was posted in this sub forum yet, it's from Thursday so it's not that old

Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) says it is "pretty obvious" that his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), is preparing for a presidential run.

"I think it probably wouldn’t surprise more people if he didn’t run after the, you know, it’s pretty obvious when people are sort of preparing," Paul said on Newsmax TV in a video posted Friday. "If he does, I’m sure he’ll make an excellent candidate."
The elder Paul, a former presidential candidate himself, did say that ultimately he does not know if his son will run.

"I guess we’ll wait and see," he said. "I guess I don’t have the answer to that. I think I read the papers that you read."

The younger Paul has said he will make a decision in March or April. However, he has given strong signals that he is preparing a run. He gathered senior advisers to discuss strategy last month and nabbed Vince Harris, the digital strategist who once worked for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a possible presidential rival.

Asked by TV host Larry King in October whether he was encouraging his son to run, Paul said, “Not really."

"And I have mixed feelings about it because I know what is entailed and how much punishment he gets," he added. "It always annoys me that he has to suffer some of the consequences because of something I said or did."

But he added: "I think it’s great that he’s doing it."

Rand has said he will hire Jessie Benton, so the whole thing is a big waste of time and money.

Are we gonna have to hear this type of butthurt bellyaching for the next 2 years? Get over it, if he loses because of Benton then he never could have won to begin with.

Yes, we do. Jessie Benton is really that bad.

Lot of good material if Rand runs. I like this one for starters.

Will Ron hesitate to endorse his son though?
I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States...When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank...You are a den of vipers and thieves. I have determined to rout you out, and by the Eternal, I will rout you out!

I am serious. Ron is absolutely 100% committed to his principles! and he's not afraid of calling out Rand in public about it. I know he will eventually endorse rand, but I'm wondering if it will be reticent about it.

I imagine he will endorse and then lie low until after the primary. It is his son, after all, and any good father would want to see his son succeed.

Uh no.... you do realize that Ron probably would not have run in 2012 if it weren't for Jesse, right?

This is absurd.... Ron has endorsed some pretty bad people, and by any objective measure Rand is within the 95th percentile of Ron...

Ron Paul endorsed Don Young. http://congress.freedomworks.org/leg...nald-e-young-0 http://www.thenewamerican.com/freedo...php?id=Y000033

He has also endorsed dozens of other people with less than pristine records.

What proof do you have of this claim? Or, is this just another one of your lies? Let me guess, Ron Paul wouldn't have run in 2008 or 1988 either, if it wasn't for Jesse Benton?

And apparently, because he makes financial contributions and/or gets ads for Ron Paul Forums, he is protected and allowed to peddle lies. Repeatedly.

Not one shred of evidence, other than his word. And we know for 100% fact, his word is often lies based on his own forum posts here and claims regarding the campaign and people around it.
