    Bitcoin mining simulator/game (pre-pre-alpha)

I've been slowly, slowly, slowly developing a "mining simulator" which gives my impression of cryptocurrencies since becoming involved after the Chuck Schumer video. I wanted to wait a bit longer before posting it here, but I won't be developing it too much more just out of a lack of time. It's playable here (browser must have JS enabled - Chrome recommended, but recent Firefox releases shouldn't have issues, while I haven't tested at all for IE support). SSL is sorta-kinda supported... if you add https, you'll get a notification that the cert isn't signed by a trusted, central authority, but requests for certain fonts are sent over unsecured HTTP through a Google API whether you're using HTTPS or HTTP.

I'm asked worryingly often about how to speed the game up. There's a "secret" method -- double-click the time&date display box to go to 20x speed. Almost all features are unlocked by March 3rd, 2010. The game uses historical checkpoints to set what I call the "adoption trend," which influences the rate of change in difficulty and price (each play-through will be a bit different). I'd suggest insuring your hardware or splitting hardware up into at least a few different clusters, or else you may be in for a nasty surprise. Lending (user debt) and the still-terrible exchange screen are currently points of focus, but it'll be weeks/months before the next release.

    Known issues (000425):
-If you have a negative USD balance, you can't loan out BTC. There is no penalty for operating with negative USD or BTC. (user debt will be implemented with or by 0005)
-If hardware is added to Cluster One due to purchasing another order with all inventory slots filled, it's impossible to partially insure the order. Instead, if Cluster One is uninsured and added to, it will always remain uninsured even if insurance is purchased on the addition, while if Cluster One was already insured, the user MUST purchase insurance on the addition or Cluster One will become fully uninsured. Same caveat with cases. (Will not be fixed until inventory management is completely overhauled)
-The WGSE screen does not display its logo (seriously, this one has me totally stumped -- there's nothing unusual about it, and its Z-order is right)
-Loan progress bars, when no loan is active, will sometimes set itself to being at 100% complete. (unsure of cause)
-The casino is unavailable on the Stats screen. (will fix in 00045)
-Users are still unable to click the Exchange rate box to get to the Exchange page. (has me stumped)
-Using spacebar to pause & unpause is unreliable. (unsure of cause, likely issue with speedcarryover variable being mis-set - if so, will fix in 00045)

-Notice- *E* marks a work which was slightly modified and may be degraded, not reflecting the quality of the original author's work. That said, I do try to respect the original authors enough to not completely butcher their works. For audio, this is generally audio compression/expansion or cutting. For images, this is generally rotation or a simple hue change (images which're simply scaled are not marked as edited).

:/ The nameserver settings crapped out again. Bodisparking isn't malicious, but a simple parking website displaying all your common crapware ads in case a website is unreachable. Sorry about that... will have it corrected in an hour or so.

Should be all set, now. Switched the URL in OP to one where nameserver already updated, but old URL should be usable again in next 10m-10h.

    Properly fixed, now.
