Born and raised in Tucson. I love that city, but it's going downhill pretty fast. Oro Valley and some areas tucked into the foothills are the only redeeming qualities. If you move to Tucson, stay north! Otherwise consider Prescott. Wife and I ride there every chance we get.

Phoenix is also very humid, especially in summer. That sounds like a non-sequitur since it's in the desert, yet it's true. First of all, it's in a valley and subject to inversions. That means humidity (and pollution) become trapped. The humidity comes from (a) the numerous irrigation canals, (b) evaporation from hundreds of thousands of swimming pools, (c) dozens of golf courses being watered constantly, (d) hundreds of large fountains (so trendy), (e) people planting deciduous trees and grasses from other parts of the country, which require lots of water and which transpire that water into the air. Phoenix is the only city (that I know of) in the desert that stays hot -- and muggy -- at night in summer (which incidentally lasts from about March through November). Tucson is much different. People there seem to accept and appreciate the desert environment much more, rather than trying to turn it into Madison, Wisconsin or something. Plus it's not in a valley, which helps a lot.

If you're going to move to Arizona, unless it's more in the mountains you should probably consider spending a week or two there in the summer first...
