Exclamation It is a good rifle, and killt the bear that killt me. Anyway, I am dead.

Ummm, maybe it's just me...shouldn't he have been running, or looking for a weapon of some sort, or something, other than finger $#@!ing a sailfawn?

Hiker Takes Tragically Chilling Cellphone Photos of 300-Pound Black Bear Stalking Him

A New Jersey hiker killed by a bear in September took a series of photos of the animal with his cellphone before the bear mauled him to death.

I certainly wouldn't be standing around taking pictures. Maybe he just didn't think any harm would come to him. Either way, he wasn't a very smart guy.

Creepy. "Firearm ownership is a huge step backwards in social evolution". May I present - the cell phone.

Unfortunately, the cell phone just might leave you subject to natural evolution. RIP, "Jersey Hiker".

No idea, but the title would probably be "No damn bear kills me and lives", had the hiker been General Forrest.

The hikers turned around when the bear kept approaching, authorities said. But the bear caught up with them, eventually closing to within 15 feet, investigators said. When the bear reached that proximity, the group split up running in different directions, they later told police investigators.

Yeah, seems more like fiction than reality. My first WAG would be from Jeremiah Johnson.

    Annnnnnnnnd thisgoeshere ...

Two men were walking through the woods when they saw a large bear about 15 feet or so away from them. The first man dropped his backpack and dug out a pair of running shoes, and started lacing them up as the bear began to approach them. The second man looked at the first, confused, and said, "What are you doing? Running shoes aren't going to help. You can't outrun that bear."

"I don't need to," said the first man, "I just need to outrun you ..."

Bears kill people who have no guns.

Yep. Amazing how many folks think a cell phone is going to keep them safe. I'm guessing it goes hand-in-hand with the way the public has been indoctrinated with the idea one should simply call the police when in danger. No need for those nasty guns.

    Lol.

But in reality, the person who runs looks more like prey, so let 'em run off...
