Thumbs up PHOTOS: Rand Paul at KACo Conference, Federalist Society of NKU & Boone Co. GOP Christmas Gala

Yesterday I traveled to Kentucky for a series of events in eastern and northern Kentucky with Rand Paul. The first event was held at the Lexington Convention Center and was hosted by the Kentucky Association of Counties, which was a great opportunity for Senator Paul to speak to nearly 1000 county officials from both parties. For his introduction, Senator Paul was introduced by a colleague who works near his ophthalmology office, and is a registered Democrat, but stated his unequivocal support for Senator Paul. Find photos HERE.

The second event was held at Northern Kentucky University, and was hosted by the Federalist Society at the Chase College of Law. As expected from a college audience, many of the questions were related to his recent statements on marijuana laws, as well as his position on criminal justice reform and mandatory minimum sentence laws. Senator Paul also highlighted several Supreme Court cases that he felt were important to relay his message, as well as Obama's overstepping on immigration. Find photos HERE.

The final event was the Boone County GOP Christmas Gala, held annually, and featuring prominent northern Kentucky area Republicans. Congressman Thomas Massie and Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer also spoke, as well as Jimmy Rose of America's Got Talent who provided entertainment for the evening. Rick Brueggemann, who was elected to a local judge position in Boone County endorsed Senator Paul in his potential bid for President, during his introduction. Find photos HERE.

We have nothing to fear that should cause us to forget or relinquish our rights as free men and women. One interesting thing to note, I actually attended the Boone county GOP Christmas gala in 2009, which was five years ago. It's hard to believe Rand was just a small town ophthalmologist in what seems to be such a long time ago.

He's less than a half a standard deviation below normal. Hardly short.

Unfortunately, at 172.7 cm.... he is short for a US president

Relatively speaking, as a presidential candidate, he is. If Rand were elected President, he would rank 34/43 in terms of height. Definitely in the bottom percentile in that sense.

It has nothing to do with being too short to become President It is the fact that he will need to overcome this bias by showcasing his other strengths.

He seems to have an affinity for red ties, at least when he speaks at events. I was actually a fan of the corn tie he wore in Iowa.
