Obama: ‘Access to Affordable Health Care Isn’t a Privilege – It’s a Right’

(CNSNews.com) -- President Barack Obama claimed that access to health care is a right saying, “We believe that access to affordable health care isn’t a privilege – it’s a right,” at a governor rally for candidate Mary Burke in Milwaukee, Wisc., on Oct. 28.
“In this country, access to health insurance shouldn’t be a Republican or Democratic issue – it’s an American issue,” said Obama. “It matters to everybody. I don’t know why you’d run on a platform of making sure some folks don’t have health insurance – why would you do that? I mean, that’s a weird thing to want – I’m going to make sure folks don’t have health insurance in this state. That doesn’t make any sense.”

Wisconsin is one of the 24 states in the United States that has not expanded its Medicaid program under Obamacare.

The ultimate minority is the individual. Protect the individual from Democracy and you will protect all groups of individuals
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual. - Thomas Jefferson
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

And yet, if you don't enroll in time or can't pay for 3 months, you no longer have the "right" to even buy it by choice until the next enrollment period.

Which is why Obama and Pelosi went in a backroom with their health insurance lobby cronies to come up with a scheme to make healthcare even more expensive. Down is up in Obama's bizzaro world.

You can read the bill after Congress passes it.

    This:
In this country, access to health insurance shouldn’t be a Republican or Democratic issue – it’s an American issue,” said Obama. “It matters to everybody. I mean, that’s a weird thing to want – I’m going to make sure folks don’t have health insurance in this state. That doesn’t make any sense.”
Needs to be followed by this:
“Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain.” - Bastiat
"And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works." - Bastiat

Notice how the first quote says "health care" but then the rest of the quotes say "health insurance" as if they are the same thing?

Slight of hand. You aren't supposed to notice that.

The classic comeback, when presented with some new BS cockamamie government "right" (so called), is from Ayn Rand.

The only thing that "doesn't make any sense" here is claiming that opposing federally mandated impositions of X means wanting to "make sure folks don't have X" ...

CaptUSA beat me to the punch with the Bastiat's exposure of Obama's mealy-mouthed bull$#@! (which bears repeating):

This is very sneaky wording. Notice he says that access to health care is a right. Indeed, hospitals are required to treat patients who present in the emergency department. But notice the next thing he says, is that health insurance is a right. Indeed, it is a right. anyone who can pay a premium can buy health insurance.

That's pretty sly. On the one hand he states plainly what has been codified into law for some time. The next thing he says is that *insurance* is a right. Of course it is in the free market.

What he's really saying is that everyone has the right to have their health care paid for by someone else. Basically he has taken away the free market for health care and health insurance.
