Sen. Paul (R-KY) has been to 30 states in the last 12 months leading up to the midterm elections to help U.S. Senate, U.S. House, gubernatorial, and state and local Republican candidates nationwide. He has keynoted state GOP conventions in Texas, California, Idaho, and Maine and rallied students at colleges and universities, ranging from the conservative University of South Carolina to liberal Berkeley to the bellwether Universities of Iowa and New Hampshire—and many in between. He’s been leading inner city GOP efforts in Detroit, Chicago, and even the race-riot-rocked Ferguson, Missouri. Paul was the only national elected Republican who spoke at the National Urban League conference. Reince Priebus, the chairman of the RNC, also spoke there.

For someone who has not run for president—at least not yet—Paul’s probably been the GOP’s most visible and most sought after surrogate this year.
“We’ve been getting a lot of requests, and people reach out because they think we can get voters beyond the Republican Party, we can reach independents, and in the last final days of elections, elections go one way or another based on undecideds,” Paul said. “That’s where the real power is in politics—in those who can sway the uncommitted. I think a lot of the invitations we’ve gotten, frankly, are because they think we can have influence on the independent voters.”

Whatever it is about Paul that intrigues voters is working. He says it’s because he appeals to a wide swath of independent-minded voters he calls the “leave-me-alone coalition.”

Agreed. I think it's time to fire up the old wagons...

Look at the quotes from local GOP leaders. They are dying to have Rand come help out in their elections. That is a huge sign ahead of 2016! When the most in-demand politician is satisfying the needs of the rest of the party, it builds so much political capital. And Rand is playing it masterfully! He's got them begging for his attention and he's playing the media like a fiddle because he is far more interesting than anyone else they're covering.

This groundwork is going to give him quite an edge.

The Demand for Rand will only escalate after the mid term elections, after the stats from the contests show a pattern of candidates he stomped for winning their races. A lot of politicians across the US will not only be clamoring for him, but owing him for having won office. In politics, that is a very big thing.

Wow ... I didn't know that and that is very surprising to me.

I think this is good for two reasons:
1. Cotton is going to be openly against Paul. He will still be against him but now that they're buds he won't be as aggressive as he would have been otherwise.
2. The fact Cotton actually allowed/asked Paul to campaign for him says something. When Rand's enemies are asking favors from him that's good!

Bad for one reason: Tom Cotton is terrible.

He actually may not have.... it's quite possible that Rand just showed up and used it as a platform.... I mean, Cotton wouldn't turn him down, that would look very bad for his campaign if he did

I think that may be wishful thinking. I don't think the country will be buzzing with "Rand delivered the election for Republicans." Somehow I can't envision Joe Scarborough or Bill O'Reilly saying, "Paul really stepped up and delivered the election for the GOP. His tireless campaigning was really the key factor in most of the tight races."

This campaigning is not primarily about accumulating favors with politicians (though there's some of that too), but rather about changing the way that Rand is perceived by mainstream GOP voters - many of whom still view him as a ringer, an outsider trying to infiltrate the party (which, of course, is exactly what he is ).

I'd bet good money McConnell will endorse him. Whatever else you can say about the man, he's always paid his debts. Just look back over his career; it's how he managed to get crontol of the KY GOP.

Saying that a third party could never grow to competitiveness is a bit like saying in 2007 that housing prices could never come down. A couple more administrations of this central bank/warfare model provided by the "two party" system may cause a paradigm shift away from this tightly controlled fraud. How much did Obama do to inspire the nation towards socialism? It appears that he inadvertently caused nearly the opposite. It is worthwhile to contemplate that a President Paul might actually be hated by more than half of the voters and reviled mercilessly by the popular media. In the end, all of his jockeying for position in order to win might send the nation bolting to socialism in a way that Obama could only have dreamed of. In which case, the slow and steady effort towards a third party might appear, in hindsight, the preferred strategy. But I hope not.
