Electronics for Imaging paid several employees from India as little as $1.21 an hour to help install computer systems at the company's Fremont headquarters, federal labor officials said Wednesday. "We are not going to tolerate this kind of behavior from employers," said Susana Blanco, district director of the U.S. Labor Department's wage and hour division in San Francisco.... An anonymous tip prompted the U.S. Department of Labor to investigate the case, which resulted in more than $40,000 in back wages paid to the eight employees and a fine of $3,500 for Electronics for Imaging.
How the $#@! is anyone supposed to compete with that?

It depends on who "anyone" is.

If "anyone" is employers, then they can compete by offering $1.22 or more an hour.
If "anyone" is employees, then they can compete by taking $1.20 or less an hour.

Youre right. I should rephrase that. How can anyone compete, AND SURVIVE on what they are paid by corporations that give no raises but jack their prices every 3 months?

Get a room mate... don't buy their overpriced corporate $#@!... Start a small side business. ???

Are you really arguing for higher statist enforced minimums?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Occam's Banana again.
