Student’s photo of skimpy Michelle Obama school lunch sparks outrage

    http://www.theminorityreportblog.com...parks-outrage/

A picture is worth a thousand words. This picture is worth about a million words on how governments, especially the United States Federal Government at the direction of the unelected President’s Wife should stay out of Americans’ lives.

    From EAGNews.org:

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Lunch meat, a couple of crackers, a slice of cheese and two pieces of cauliflower qualified as lunch in Chickasha Public Schools Monday.

Student Kaytlin Shelton took a photo of the skimpy lunch and showed it to her parents.

“It makes me want to take that and take it to the Superintendent and tell him to eat it for lunch,” the girl tellsFox 25.

“I can go pay a dollar for a Lunchable and get more food in it,” her father, Vince Holton, says.

Shelton is pregnant and eating for two, complicating the problem.

Chickasha superintendent David Cash agrees the skimpy lunches need to be addressed.

“You’ve got in some cases little kids that their only two meals are breakfast and lunch at school and they’re getting you know a grand total of 1100 calories. That’s not enough,” Cash says.

The new lunch complies with lunch regulations championed by First Lady Michelle Obama and implemented by the USDA.

“We have a meat-meat alternate, we have a bread grain, we have vegetable,” Asst. State Superintendent for Child Nutrition Joanie Hildenbrand tells the news station after looking at the photo.

Not sure I believe it. Sure her stance on school lunches is terrible but so was Bush's. The Bush administration abolished all frying and forced everything to baked. That's the new norm. My wife works in a school cafeteria. They have a new system (starting last year) where they offer 3 choices of meals. It's actually better food than I got 15 years ago. It's possibly against the law though. Next year the the "supreme" inspectors rather than state and local will check in again and she thinks they'll fail on the portion size when that happens. There's an effective scam happening in small rural schools around here. These companies tell the superintendent that they will turn their cafeteria into a money making business (while the school is required to buy all food from them). All evidence says they won't but of course that doesn't matter. Usually after the superintendent that signed the contract is long gone, the school board realizes what an idiot that person was.

I don't really think that the punishment a High School girl should receive for getting pregnant is being starved to death.

Government should NEVER be permitted to feed children!

A simple solution would be to fire all government employees involved including the "lunch ladies" and waive all federal taxes for parents of school age children.

Well, they force them to attend these schools in the first place, and then they refuse to give them a decent sized meal.

Could be curtailing government would solve the problem?

Latch on to the pregnancy if you want, but I guess an athlete gets the same thing. Then goes to practice right after school. That lunch does not have enough protein to build muscle or enough carbohydrates for energy.

the only thing its missing is more vegetables, wtf are 2 pieces of cauliflower supposed to do for you?
the crackers, cheese, and ham, are essentially an unassembled sandwich. And heck thats a lot of slices of ham. When I had sandwiches as a kid I got 2 pieces of bread, 2 slices of ham, and a slice of cheese.

Why is the government supposed to prepare a meal for them anyway? Only during one year of school did I eat school lunch, rest of the time I brought lunch to school

Food is a weapon - just ask Stalin.
Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

I'm not against there being a law that stipulates that a parent must ensure that their children are adequately feed. In fact, I'm sure such laws are already on the books in every state and territory of the US.

The big government solution is the school lunch program, and now, sacred cow.

I think parents have to pay for at least part of the school lunch program. It isn't paid for entirely by the government. I'm not sure what percentage it is. But I think if the government is going to force kids to attend public schools, then they have a responsibility to provide normal sized meals for children in lunch cafeterias, not small snacks.

I can never understand how in the hell you have food stamps and school lunches.Even during socialism the government had gotten rid of both because they were ineffective ,prone to corruption and nobody liked the school lunches.

Except for the USA I have never ever heard of any other country to still have food stamps.

Come on, TF, you know better than that. "The Government" doesn't pay for anything. You do.

The government does not technically force kids to attend public schools. You still have a choice to send your children to private school or homeschool.

Simple fairness would dictate that if you do not use the "services" of the public schools, then you should not have to pay for them.

What kind of jerks would feed that to their kids? I have no problem with meat and cheese, but that is some seriously processed crap. I used to get homemade soup, turkey sandwiches/tuna/ham or PB & J, fruit, carrots/celery and a dessert. Is that really so difficult?

So ... tod just needs to add "end compulsory schooling" to his list. I'm down with that ...
