Never heard of it and had to look it up. Seems pretty easy to make and looks like it tastes great.

It's pretty good, I prefer using dark meat, lots of recipes call for dry ol' breasts...

If you're using an online recipe up the oyster sauce in the gravy...

You know, all my life I've preferred white meat chicken, and then around 3 years ago (I'm 41) right out of the blue I suddenly developed a STRONG preference for dark meat over white meat. Weird.

Will do. And as per yours and Gunny's post I agree with dark meat for plates. White for sandwiches.

I'd eat there when on the road. Not to bad as far as fast-food goes. Seems the last time I stopped in, about a month ago, the portion size of the sandwich was halved even though the price was the same.

I've always tried to find Ma-n-Pa eateries when I'm away from home, something about the chains just doesn't sit well with me...

Depends where I am at and what is available. Whether I'm in a hurry and want to eat on the road or just being leisurely and want some good local hometown fixin's.

We went to a local traditional Turkish restaurant today. The food was absolutely delicious, but I needed a TUMS--it's very spicy, but good. Here's what the hub got:

They gave us so much food there's no way you can eat it all there. We'll be snackin on this for three days. Lol Middle Eastern food is not bad. I gotta say--they can cook!

    Here's what I got:

I'm tellin ya, the things they do with lamb there are amazing. You can see the spices all through the meat. We asked for cream for our Turkish coffee and the girl looked at us like we were nuts. Lol They can't wear their traditional head rags in there so all of the women were wearing these really bad wigs.

Hey Suz--that was a treat for me, I've lost 32 lbs! I was getting a really large ass--had to do something.

I guess it's too offensive to non-Muslims, so they wear wigs instead---really cheap bad ones too. They don't want to run off business I guess.

I'd rather see a hijab than a bad wig.

Thanks, you know the ironic thing about that is that ever since I got my vitamin D levels corrected--the weight has been falling off. I haven't even worked at it honestly. I'd read where this happens when the D levels are really bad and way off, but I never actually thought it would help. I've even noticed a difference in my muscles and joints. I was on 50,000 units once a week for 8 weeks, then had my levels checked again and they were normal, so now I'm on 2000 units a day of D3. It's really amazing the difference.

I hadn't stepped on the scale for a month until the other day and I was down another 15 lbs.

Chiavetta's chicken, grilled zucchini, salad, and peaches.

You can buy Chiavetta's here (http://www.amazon.com/Chiavettas-Bar.../dp/B001UKBDGY) but Mr Animal's niece brings us jugs of it when she's passing through Atlanta on her way to Florida.

Homemade tagliatelle with ragù alla bolognese and some (real italian) parmesan on top.

And yeah, I did have patience with the ragu, 5 hours or so.

P.S. I need different optics for decent food pics

It's just me and Sue, so we're having whatever's leftover in the fridge. I've got some homemade mac salad with tuna, and chopped cucumbers, tomatoes and some leftover cold fried chicken. No cooking tonight.

Here's the recipe for my mac salad.

    1 package small shell pasta
    1 large can tuna
    chopped tomatoes
    sliced cucumbers
    chopped onion
    5 hard boiled eggs
    shredded Cheddar cheese
    mayonnaise
    salt and pepper, to taste

Mr Animal made pork burritos and left them in the fridge for me. He said there was tomatilla salsa. I couldn't find it but I came across some oily stuff that looked like salsa (except it had oil) and ate it. When Mr Animal called to check on me, he asked if I had eaten yet and I told him about the weird salsa. The line got really quiet and he asked if I cooked the "weird salsa", of course not. He started giggling and explained the "weird salsa" was what he had marinated the RAW PORK in and he planned on pouring it over some raw pork he didn't use and sticking it in the freezer. I want to vomit. Who the hell saves leftover marinade in the fridge with dinner?

    Mexican cassarole;

Cube and fry 4-5# boneless yardbird salt-n-pepper, no breading, drain.

Fry onion, assorted peppers and garlic in leftover lard, drain. (1-2 cups after sauteeing)

Precook 2 cups brown rice in chicken or turkey stock (Make your own stock!) 6 cups finished

    1-2# sharp cheddar grated.

Mix cooked rice with fresh or canned tomatoes and cooked pepper mix and spread 1/2 of the mixture into a greased 9x13 pan, cheese next then dead bird cover with remainder of rice mixture and some raw onion, foil and bake @375 for 45 min..

Damnit, I swear we could all start a Galt's Gulch and fund it through a restaurant with fresh produce and meats.

Went out last night. New place everyone was raving about. Appetizer (scallops on grits) didn't suck. I just chose a simple Philly cheese steak sandwich w/ fries. 2/3rds of the fries were burned. All were cold. They had to be sitting under a heat lamp for at least an hour. Dry sandwich. Dry, dry, dry. Waitress thinks we are her best friends and wants to chat with us even after the food arrives. Honestly, babe, I don't care why you don't like peas. Why do I even bother anymore. Total tab, 38 misspent dollars.
