Louisiana Police Chief Who Admitted to Raping Woman While on Duty Gets Probation

Business as usual -- enjoy your retirement, chief. And keep your nose clean while on probation -- don't worry though, your brothers will help you with that I'm sure.

The article doesn't say, but it sounds like he may be getting a pension -- it seems like a lot of the ones with over 20 years do things like this, knowing the worst that might happen is they will have to give up the badge, while keeping the pension and maybe doing a little probation time.

Ex-Sorrento Police Chief Earl Theriot sentenced to 24 months probation
    Posted: Sep 18, 2014 6:39 AM CST Updated: Sep 18, 2014 11:30 AM CST

SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) - The former police chief of Sorrento was sentenced Thursday in federal court to 24 months probation with no jail time on a charge of lying to the FBI in a sexual assault investigation.

Earl Theriot was also ordered to pay $2,500 in fines immediately. Theriot apologized in court for his actions and said he has to carry this burden for the rest of his life. Prior to the sentencing, the judge said Theriot was facing anywhere 0 to 6 months in prison.

"It's a matter that cost me my law enforcement career and brought embarrassment to my family and town of Sorrento," Theriot said in court after the sentencing.

Theriot took a plea deal that forced him to resign as chief. He admitted to a judge that as police chief, he took a drunk woman to his office and forced her to perform sexual acts. He then admitted to lying about that to federal investigators.

Jackson added Theriot's age of 66, health problems and that he was remorseful worked in his favor. Although Theriot apologized to everyone in the courtroom for his actions, he never apologized specifically to the victim. The civil lawsuit against Theriot is still ongoing. No trial date has been set.

During a hearing on Feb. 10, 2014, the US attorney said Theriot admitted that on Nov. 1, 2013, while serving as the Sorrento police chief, he responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive individual at a gas station. Theriot admitted that he put her in the front seat of his police unit and instead of taking her home, he took her to his office at the Sorrento Police Department, where he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with her.

According to the US Attorney's Office, Theriot also admitted to later making numerous false statements to an FBI special agent and a deputy with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, who were investigating whether Theriot violated federal civil rights laws, among other things.

On Feb. 7, 2014, Theriot resigned as chief of police as required by the plea agreement with the US Attorney's Office. On Feb. 6, 2014, Theriot sent a letter to the mayor of Sorrento and councilmen announcing his retirement and that it would begin the next day.

I wonder how many months of probation this rapist will get ? Unfortunately he only had 16 years in -- he should have waited until past the 20 yr mark to go on a raping spree, then he'd probably get a pension along with probation.

Women should heed the OHP's spokesman's advice on this : "follow the law and you won't get pulled over."

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Roberts arrested for kidnapping, sex assault
    9:10 AM, Sep 15, 2014

CREEK COUNTY, Okla. - A state trooper accused of sexually assaulting a woman after a traffic stop has been arrested.

Eric Roberts, a 16-year veteran of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, was taken into custody Monday morning at his home by his fellow OHP troopers.

"This particular matter sickens us as an agency," said OHP Chief of Patrol Ricky Adams during a news conference Monday afternoon.

Adams said investigators found enough evidence to move forward with criminal charges.

OHP launched an investigation after the first victim came forward in August, claiming Roberts forced her to perform sexual acts in his patrol car near the Tulsa-Creek County border.

Roberts allegedly drove to a secluded area near Frankhoma Road and raped the woman.

"Trooper Roberts turned off his camera and mic during the course of the traffic stop," said Adams.

Another woman claimed Roberts made sexually inappropriate comments during the stop on the Turner Turnpike July 8.

According to court documents, the woman says Roberts ordered her to follow him in her car and eventually forced her to perform sexual acts.

Roberts was suspended with pay during the investigation.

Disgusting. This is another reason why criminals migrate to these jobs.

And yet a puppy rapist gets....

Puppy rapist gets 5 years in prison

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A man convicted of fondling and raping his 8-month-old pit bull puppy will spend five years in a state prison, according to the Florida State Attorney's Office.

James Guy Bull, 62, of Daytona Beach, Fla., pleaded guilty to two counts of felony cruelty to animals, misdemeanor animal cruelty charges and misdemeanor sexual activities involving animals, prosecutors said. He was to face trial on the charges.

"The facts of this case are incomprehensible and vile," State Attorney R.J. Larizza said after the sentence was handed down Friday. "The defendant's abuse of the helpless dog shocks the collective conscience of the citizens of the Seventh Circuit and beyond."

On March 18, two of Bull's neighbors came forward, claiming they had seen him fondling the dog's private parts on several occasions, despite cries and yelps from the animal named Coco.

At one point, a neighbor was walking near Bull's apartment when he reportedly caught him in the act of having sex with the dog, prosecutors said.
