So, I've been programming for a few years... application Level javascript, Perl, python... and the company Is moving to a new platform which entails everyone learning Java and / or scala. Im finding learning it hard etc.. I think I am just burnt out. My passion for programming is just not there. I still try to learn so I'm not stagnant but the Long hours, stressful releases. Its a great job. Love the people, treat me great.... but like i said, im not inspired. Bored. Its just a job now.
so, ive been Thinking of moving into project management as a possible new horizon for myself.
I'm thinking, no huge stress of prod. bugs having to be fixed NOW... why was it caused!!! Long hours, working weekends to finish projects...
I feel I'm a lil old for my position. Young guns coming in...
So i brought up me moving into project management to The director in that department, he was receptive.
Have any of you made that leap? Have an opinion on it?
