After video surfaces of Ray Rice punching wife, Rush discusses Ravens-Obama meet

After video surfaces of Ravens' Ray Rice punching wife (then fiancee) in elevator and then dragging her, Rush goes on to link some "lenient" public views on this incidence of violence with Ravens apparent meeting with Obama and their alleged support for obama's political agenda.

Not a fan of swc but here Rush seems to be reaching.

While it is true that Ray Rice was invited and stood with Obama , there is no indication that the man himself accused of having droned unarmed women, children knew that he was standing with a man with violent disposition to attack defenseless unarmed woman.

Roger Goodell’s Wife Too Scared to Tell Him She Thinks He Went Easy on Ray Rice

    DJ Gallo Jul 25th, 2014

Jane Skinner, the former FOX News host and current wife of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, has told friends she is angry over the two-game suspension her husband handed down to Ravens running back Ray Rice for knocking out his fiancee, but doesn’t feel its wise for her to speak up about it.
“If Roger thinks knocking a woman out and dragging her through a casino is only worth two games, who’s to say he won’t knock Jane out for questioning his decisions?” said a friend of Skinner’s. “Jane doesn’t want to be hit. No one does.”
Goodell and the NFL have faced heavy criticism in light of the commissioner’s punishment of Rice in comparison to penalties he’s given to other player for non-violent incidents.

If Jane is afraid of being hit by her husband for expressing her opinion then she needs to get a divorce.

    Dr. Ben Carson responds:

"Let’s not all jump on the bandwagon of demonizing this guy,” Carson said. “He obviously has some real problems. And his wife obviously knows that because she subsequently married him. So they both need some help. ”

Carson’s remarks follow the release Monday of a TMZ video of the incident, in which Rice appears to strike his now-wife Janay Palmer twice in an elevator and knock her unconscious. The Ravens announced the team’s decision via its Twitter account.

NFL lost its gamble on Ray Rice video

    The Boston Globe
    September 10, 2014

Atlantic City is a gambling town. We can now add the NFL to the long list of those who liked their odds in an Atlantic City casino and walked away losers.

The NFL bet that what happened between former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and his then-fiancée/now wife Janay Palmer in the elevator of an Atlantic City casino would never see the light of day. That all we would see was the aftermath, Rice dragging his unconscious significant other out of the elevator of the Revel Casino after a physical altercation in February.

It gambled that the horrific video of Rice slugging Palmer, published by TMZ.com on Monday, would remain concealed. It gambled that the public outcry over the league’s far too lenient two-game suspension for Rice announced on July 24 would subside and the public would be satiated by commissioner Roger Goodell’s mea culpa and the league’s recently announced tougher standards for those who commit domestic violence.

The NFL gambled and it lost. It lost respect. It lost dignity. It lost some of the shine on its precious shield the moment the heinous surveillance video was glimpsed. The NFL closed its eyes and expected everyone else to do the same.

The only thing attributed to Jane Skinner in the article is her feeling that it wouldn't be wise to comment (I agree, since it's literally not her business). The one who mentioned her fear of getting knocked out is an unnamed "friend."
Genuine, willful, aggressive ignorance is the one sure way to tick me off. I wish I could say you were trolling. I know better, and it's just sad.

    Punching your girlfriend is bad.

But it's much much worse if there's video of it.

Let the punishment fit the evidence.

If her dear hubby's financial interest is directly linked to a decision on penalizing over domestic violence issue involving a woman, it is sort of "her business" at some levels.

Don't we have a government who takes care of punishing people for committing crimes?

I'm pretty sure that there are mechanisms that work that way.

Or are cops now just people who shoot lots of dogs and a lot of unarmed civilians?

I'm pretty sure that we still have a legal process though, no matter how $#@!ed up it is.

A major issue from NFL standpoint may be of image/bad publicity that affects business.. besides the legal issue that is supposed to be handeled by policing institutions.

Who cares if the video exists or not?

Shouldn't the legal justice system take care of punishment of players, period?

The NFL shouldn't be suspending players for anything but activities related to football.

If a drug is deemed unethical, as cheating, for its performance abilities, and a players uses it, he or she would be suspended.

If a drug is merely illegal, the player shouldn't be suspended, because we already have a government who takes care of punishing people who commit crimes.

Employers shouldn't care what you do on your off hours, except how it effects performance of the job.

If it is damaging to their brand, they have every right to punish the folks representing their company. Who are YOU to decide what a private company does?

EDIT: is the NFL private? I have no idea. Anyway, my point still stands. If employees can potentially harm a company due to their personal behavior, they have every right to release, fire, fine, whatever.

parocks, your point may be valid technically speaking but for businesses like NFL, image/brand/perception of their customers matter too.

To make a point, if NFL had recruited OJ (assume he was capable of playing then) the the day after he was found not guilty by judicial system in another domestic violence case, how much business loss NFL/that team would have suffered from lost revenue?
    Quite a lot I suspect.

    Simple math for NFL here.

NFL is mostly private, but they do have tax-exempt status with the government. Which I still find very bizarre.

    It is bit strange.
But some NFL folks do help out with government projects here and there.

This is much like First Lady Obama dictating what the kids get to eat, or asking the wife of a CEO for her ideas on a new product. If she were awesomely good at being NFL Commissioner, she would be shoehorned in as a consultant or even become Commissioner herself. It is literally not her business.

Have you heard of "Meatless Day" they are trying to promote? Something about 1 day a week where no meat is served in food products or something like that.

Well, it's hard to know what happened. I mean, truly happened. We can't hear what they are arguing about, nor do we know how these fights have gone before. Gender aside, I saw one person rush at anther, and get knocked the $#@! out for it. For all we know, she has hit him before. Of course, I bet she doesn't run at him looking crazy anymore.

I'm sorry, but while I agree that people that hit a woman to dominate a fight or something is incredibly wrong, if a chicks runs at me like she is going to throw hands with me, I'll plant her. The only thing worse than a dude that likes to punch on women, are women who like to punch on dudes while screaming, "I'm a woman. You can't hit me back!".

Be mindful of who you jump. They might take that as you dropping nuts, and show you what it's like to be treated as having said nuts.

He hits her in the elevator before jumping back. This is when she comes toward him. He was retaliating for the earlier hit, not just defending himself.
