Yer killing me, suzanimal, thinking about country food. I mean, I can talk some crap like I babble off bull$#@! in the Monsanto threads but I still like to eat a lot of the old home cooked stuff like that. You just can't up and forget your upbringing. You know?
No, you can't. My mom doesn't think a salad is a meal. Unless it's a Grandma salad - raw spinach, crumbled up cornbread, boiled egg, crumbled up fat back and the grease drippings is the salad dressing.

Mom bought a ham this week, so it looks like we're going to have red eye gravy and biscuits one day. She's on a cooking jag right now because she thinks I don't eat enough. She's heading to Florida in a few weeks, I think she's trying to fatten me up before she leaves.

Good stuff. I never had brown gravy with chicken fried steak before. Will have to try it.
That's the only way I've ever had it. I've seen it in Denny's with sawmill gravy and it's probably good that way too.

Made crockpot chili over the weekend...

Pork butt, garden tomatoes, squash, onions, garlic and a LARGE assortment of fresh chilis...

Cook 8 hrs before adding dry beans, add enough beans to absorb the juice..

Serve over Fritos with sour cream....(The sour cream tempers the chilis)
