Would Rand Paul open up a doctors office at the White House doing pro-bono work?

In the Oval Office would be where he does his Presidential work and in another part of the White House he runs a doctor office. Surgery is performed at GWU. Or he might have a doctor's office at Camp David. People call the White House to set up appointments. Patients then go back to see him for their check-up at the White House. He'll refuse to meet with Head's of State on certain days of the week because he is performing surgery. Can you see this?

It would be nice to see, but with all the duties of being president I certainly wouldn't complain if he held off on that stuff until after he was out of office

Hopefully some time after he became President the amount of duties would decrease significantly.

No . . . that is a reason to not vote for him for President then.

His Dad was a flight surgeon in the USAF in Vietnam, and opthamology is a great specialty for flight surgeons.

Perhaps as a bit of a PR manuever, I could see a commander-in-chief Rand Paul during times of stand down and peace,
showing up on a carrier deck though to honor the guys for their service, an eye check up from the President you serve seems pretty cool -
better than just playing basketball with the guys.

It would be a profound metaphor and message. Make some time to get involved. Don't just talk about what the corrupt bureaucracy can do for you. Get out and actually do something. It would be a classic move by a President Paul that would be forever a historical gem of the office of the president.

It would be stellar if Rand matched Obama's golf time with surgery time.

No because he wouldn't have time to do it, the secret service probably couldn't handle it, and his enemies could have an easier method to assassinate him. If Rand is president, he has a job to do. And healthy eyeballs should be the least of his worries.

All people would have to fill out medical questionnaires before becoming patients. The people would be recommended by another physician simply because they were sent to a specialist. Rand would allow anyone to come into his office for treatment.

Imagine getting prescriptions for your pharmacy from the President of the United States.

If our current POTUS is getting "slammed" for wearing a tan suit, imagine what they would do to one wearing green scrubs.

Doctors are held in very high esteem by many people. Can you imagine if Obama or Reagan donned blue scrubs and did a heart transplant in the Oval Office? They would have 101% approval ratings the next day.

What if President Paul drove NASCAR? Or had a President reality show?

While i could see President Rand Paul being at a NASCAR or Indy Formula One event,
maybe giving the opening announcement "Gentlemen start your engines."

the Secret Service and common sense would just NOT allow a NASCAR-driving President of these United States.
    - sorry, nice thought though.

I can't even tell you how cool it would be for Rand to do anything that shatters this damn imperial image of the presidency. This office is waaaayyyy out of whack.

Dr. Paul isn't a qualified professional driver to begin with. If he went to professional race car driving school and raced on a professional curcuit then I can see that. However, he is a qualified physician so the point about him practicing medicine while in the White House is not far off. To be a patient there has to be medical screening such as questionnaires, x-rays from other physicians, etc. So not anyone can just come to the White House for a visit. You would have to have an actual serious illness regarding eyes.

I think that the fact that he is an ophthalmologist is great symbolism. He is helping America see the light.
