Teen Girl Suspended for Saying 'Bless You' After Classmate Sneezed

"we’re not going to have godly speaking in her class"

Unless they're reciting the Socialist pledge of allegiance?

Not to be outdone by Summerville High School in South Carolina—where writing about shooting dinosaurs can get you arrested—Dyer County High School in Tennessee has suspended a teenage girl for saying "bless you" after a classmate sneezed.

That's according to the girl's account of events, reports CBS Charlotte:
Kendra Turner, a senior at Dyer County High School, said bless you to her classmate who sneezed and the teacher told her that the term was for church.

She said that we’re not going to have godly speaking in her class and that’s when I said we have a constitutional right,” Turner told WMC.

When she defended her actions, the teacher told Turner to see an administrator. The student said that she had to finish the class period in in-school suspension.

The girl’s parents were told by school leaders that their daughter shouted “bless you” across the room and that it was a classroom distraction.

School officials told her parents Tuesday that the teacher claimed that their daughter was aggressive and disruptive.
Based on the idea of natural rights, government secures those rights to the individual by strictly negative intervention, making justice costless and easy of access; and beyond that it does not go. The State, on the other hand, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing.

Conservatives don't even understand how idiotic they sound when disparaging socialism while defending a Socialists pledge written to inspire nationalism and communalism, the foundations of socialism in government, in children.

So not going to have any godly speaking? What type of speaking is allowed, demonic? Some awesome stories as parents begin the new school year of indoctrination in proper government authorized thinking and speaking.

I was considered a pain back in the 70s and 80s and spent my fair share of time in the administrator's office (had an incessant habit of speaking my mind when I disagreed with a teacher's assessment of a situation). I can only imagine what trouble I would be in now. Saying bless you is a reflex for me and used to be part of being mannerly now it is godly speak? Teacher got a bug up her butt because she is a petty tyrant in a modest position of authority and someone challenged her that should have just shut up and accepted her petulant demands. If you can't fire them then make them useless and put the children in private schools or home school them.

High school senior says she was suspended for saying 'bless you'
By Dylan Stableford, Yahoo News 10 hours ago Yahoo News

A high school senior in Tennessee says she was given an in-school suspension for saying "bless you" to a classmate who had sneezed.

Kendra Turner, a student at Dyer County High School, told WMC-TV that when her teacher told her she had broken a class rule against invoking religious terms, she complained.

“She said that we’re not going to have godly speaking in her class," Turner said, "and that’s when I said we have a constitutional right. ... It’s all right to defend God and it’s our constitutional right, because we have a freedom of religion and freedom of speech."

    Saw this interesting comment.

Back in 1965, yes, 1965, I said God Bless You to my fellow second grader who had sneezed. That was what my family always said to each other when one of us sneezed. My teacher felt she had to humiliate me in front of the rest of the class by stopping class and sarcastically informing me the "we don't say God in this class." She told me I could say gesundheit, but to never say the word God again. She led the class of second graders, practically directing them, in laughing at me. From that day on I have always said bless you if someone sneezed, always afraid of angering another person by mentioning God again. Thank you Miss Wassily, Lincoln Titus elementary school, in Crompond, New York, for being such a #$%$ to an eight year old child.

I think she should be VERY severely punished for that. Like, way more than any "normal" person would think is justified. She should go to prison for it.

Now, if it were a private school, I would of course think different. Such a thing would be acceptable, though disgusting, in a secular private school. But in public school, participating in the whole "the state is your only God" propaganda is something serious enough to justify SEVERE measures.

I have these regular responses when somebody sneezes. I usually say Buddha bless you or Vishnu bless you. After the person is familiar, you can just truncate the bless you part. You just say things like Evangelical Christianity or Jainism. It's a great conversation starter, too.

That's fine. But any public school teacher [read: propagandist of the state] who uses her power to brainwash a little child into something like this should be considered every bit as much of a scumbag as someone who is guilty of physical assault.

I believe the approved, politically correct response in today's loving, empathetic, liberal, kind, tolerant America is, 'I hope you covered your mouth and nose when you did that or we're going to lock your ass down in quarantine!'

    Almost.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

    What absolute garbage.

Somehow public schools are becoming progressively worse after I left them. I didn't think it was possible.
