Iowa GOP Senate hopeful backs the Ex-Im bank

Joni Ernst is backed by Karl Rove and the US Chamber of Commerce.

Apparently Sarah Palin and the Senate Conservatives Fund decided to further tarnish their reputations with endorsements too.

The Republican nominee for a critical Senate seat in Iowa is breaking with Tea Party groups on reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank.

Joni Ernst told CNBC in an interview that aired Wednesday she supports the bank, despite the stiff opposition to renewing its charter from groups on the right.
    ...
While Ernst has garnered some Tea Party support, including endorsements from former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) and the Senate Conservatives Fund, she was one of the rare candidates who managed to unite the often-warring factions within the GOP ahead of her June primary. She was endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce, American Crossroads and 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney, among others.

Ernst's Democratic opponent in Iowa, Bruce Braley, supports Ex-Im as well. Polls have Braley and Ernst in a dead heat in the race to replace retiring Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa).

So much for making 'em squeal...I guess Ernst only cares about big spending when it isn't flowing into corporate troughs.

Another Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Kelly Ayotte style, big government, socialist, corporatist, MIC, neoconservative...

A White Paper: The U.S. – Israeli Partnership
    Joni Ernst
    ...
As history has proven time and time again, America has no better friend or more loyal ally than she does with Israel.
    ...
While over the last few years there has been an unfortunate slight uptick in misguided rhetoric coming from Washington concerning matters related to Israel and her self-interest and security, Joni Ernst believes the United States must remain committed to growing and nurturing this relationship in a host of ways, including the continuation of aid programs, sharing of intelligence, close coordination on foreign policy relating to strategic international and regional importance, and extension of a mutually-beneficial and growing trade relationship.

...as the next United States Senator from Iowa, she will enthusiastically fight to expand the bond that exists between these two partners while prioritizing efforts aimed at strengthening the only democracy in the Middle East with a recognition that doing so will preserve the safety and security of both America and Israel for generations to come.
    ...
Joni Ernst is a staunch advocate of continuing United States “security assistance” for Israel. The FY2014 federal budget dedicates $3.1 billion to Israel, which represents year six of an overall ten-year security assistance program pursuant to the 2007 Memorandum of Understanding. In addition, Joni supports the $220 million budgeted to support the Israeli-based Iron Dome defense system, which is an especially important and timely deterrent in the ongoing and accelerating Syrian conflict.

While this assistance carries the added benefit of economic benefits to U.S. companies who provide defense industry driven and domestic aerospace assistance to Israel as a result, most importantly this aid will help ensure that our partner, and the only democracy in the Middle East, is able to maintain its current and historic military edge over the many growing threats it faces in the region – benefiting both the short and long-term interests of both the Israeli and American people.

Left out a lot, which can be condensed to this: "Palestinians bad, yada yada yada. Iran bad, yada yada yada. Egypt bad, must keep paying them money so they won't say or do anything negative towards Israel."

If she wanted to pick an issue, she should have supported the farm bill instead that already passed, supported by Steve King and Grassley, that she was never going to get to vote on.
BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky – Washington liberals are trying to push through the so-called DREAM Act, which creates an official path to Democrat voter registration for 2 million college-age illegal immigrants.

She picked her issues very well. She will be a willing and able mouthpiece for the establishment.

With Ernst you get the same Establishment script. Small limited government talk but what do you know she votes for more spending, more taxes, more war, more RINO manure. I told everyone I knew to look at her record before voting. "Her name recognition is what is going to make her win" and "she isn't that bad is she?" were some of the usual feedback. I give her credit for not really voicing what she would actually do but some good RAW RAW conservative rhetoric and a "risky" political ad which gave her national attention.

This race wasn't on my radar, as there was no clear liberty conservative candidate, but Ernst is straight from hell, IMHO. The worst on every issue.

That's what the Palin endorsement made people think. Senate Conservatives Fund has pretty much gone neoconservative, so their endorsements are all very suspect.
