Many have accused Jon Stewart of being pro-Hamas for expressing sympathy for the residents of Gaza, where more than 500 people have been killed -- including at least 100 children -- in recent fighting with Israel.

So on Monday night's "Daily Show," just about the entire roster of correspondents popped up to scream at him any time he uttered the word "Israel."

"Look, obviously there are many strong opinions on this," Stewart said when the shouting subsided. "But just merely mentioning Israel or questioning in any way the effectiveness or humanity of Israel's policies is not the same thing as being pro-Hamas."

That of course led to a new round of shouts and insults, prompting Stewart to turn to a "lighter" topic: Ukraine.

Jon Stewart is tuning out to be an hypocrite in disguise. Of course he would turn to a "lighter" topic which is Ukraine the majority of idiots dont even know where it is.

You realize that it was dark humor, yes?

I wonder what happens when you talk about Iraqi and Syrian Christians? You'd think they were the Ron Paul 2008 campaign for all the coverage they are getting.

Exactly. Especially the most recent tragedy that has befallen Iraqi Christians.

The city of Mosul has just been emptied of Christians for the first time in 1700 years (the work of the ultra-extreme "Islamic State"). And how much international coverage does this get? (I'm actually asking, how much coverage is this getting in US media?)

I'd figure not much and I'd venture a possible reason - because (a) Nobody wants to admit their role in creating this tragedy and (b) Nobody is prepared to do anything about it.

So they'd just pretend it doesn't exist.

While everyone is mourning over a few hundred frothing jihadis in Gaza, US-sponsored ISIS has killed or exiled every Christian in the territory it controls, and is now demanding genital mutilation of every female remaining in Mosul.

If we really want to stand for justice and liberty then we can't pick and choose whose rights we defend and whose rights we ignore. I'm tired of this attitude that needs to ask which religion or nationality someone belongs to before deciding whether to sympathize with them or whether to find excuses for their oppressors.

ISIS are degenerate scum and their expulsion of Mosul's Christians is an unprecedented catastrophe. But to describe the hundreds who died in Gaza as "frothing jihadis" when the majority of those killed are civilians - a third merely children - is just disgusting.

If you want to stand up for the right of humans then stand up for the rights of all humans.

Have you any doubt that those Israel is pummelling in Gaza right now would do anything different than their ISIS brethren if given a chance?

Gaza's population has been weaponized. This is a 4GW asymmetrical tactic, deliberately and cynically constructed precisely to prey on the inability of others to distinguish innocents from non-innocents.

Same thing is now happening to our southern border, by the way. Another weaponized population - this time, biologically weaponized rather than ideologically weaponized - designed specifically to exploit the very compassion you are expressing here.

There are no nice and peaceful solutions to such conflicts. It simply isn't possible.
