    What happened?

I thought Rand Paul had strong support in Colorado and polled better than Hillary Clinton. Yet he was delivered a huge blow in a recent straw poll.

"Neurosurgeon Ben Carson defeated a host of well-known Republicans in a weekend straw poll in Colorado of potential 2016 presidential candidates.

Carson, who has been encouraged by some conservatives to run for the White House in 2016, won the Western Conservative Summit straw poll in Denver, the group announced.

With more than 147 votes, Carson placed ahead of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (112 votes) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (82 votes). More than 600 votes were cast from Friday to Sunday during the three-day conference.

Other top finishers included Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Rand Paul."

What happened was they held a straw poll at a conference put on by a small religious college in Colorado, and the press pounced on it like it's supposed to mean something. The straw poll in question was held by the "Western Conservative Summit" put on by Colorado Christian University. The speakers were Carson, Allen West, and Ted Cruz. Paul either wasn't invited or simply didn't attend. Most of the speeches & breakout sessions revolved around social conservatism and the culture wars. It simply wasn't Rand's crowd.

Weirdly enough, 666 people voted in the straw poll.

    I loled at this. +rep

Very ironic, and hilarious considering who put it on, and what much of it was centered around.

Yeah, if you see Allen West, Carson, Ted Cruz, then Palin is not too far behind. Oh, wait:
