NBC News Pulls Veteran Reporter from Gaza After Witnessing Israeli Attack on Children
By Glenn Greenwald 17 Jul 2014, 12:43 PM EDT

Ayman Mohyeldin, the NBC News correspondent who personally witnessed yesterday’s killing by Israel of four Palestinian boys on a Gazan beach and who has received widespread praise for his brave and innovative coverage of the conflict, has been told by NBC executives to leave Gaza immediately. According to an NBC source upset at his treatment, the executives claimed the decision was motivated by “security concerns” as Israel prepares a ground invasion, a claim repeated to me by an NBC executive. But late yesterday, NBC sent another correspondent, Richard Engel, along with an American producer who has never been to Gaza and speaks no Arabic, into Gaza to cover the ongoing Israeli assault (both Mohyeldin and Engel speak Arabic).

No, the US media is not controlled from the top down. That would never happen.

YEAH... That would never happen in US media Reminds me of how FOX NEWS turned the unarmed AID flotilla to Gaza activists into Terrorists as Israeli Special Forces attacked the ships and shot the occupants. One clown on FOX, I would mention his name is Eric Bolling, actually used footage of an activist threw a deck chair at the invading Israeli commandos and gave justification for Israeli commandos to gun the person down in cold blood.

They should just pull a "Wolf Biltzer/CNN/Jeff Zucker Zionist special" and pull the plug on the news feed when the truth is coming out like the Iowa GOP primary 2012.

I was under the impression that CNN's Wolf Blitzer had retired from supporting Zionism and now believes that both arabs and jews are equal races with none more chosen than the other.

There is a much broader phenomenon happening around the world (not limited to Gaza) as far as reporting of news and events from the ground in a way that is destructive to the mainstream and it's model. Especially regarding these kinds of attacks that we are seeing from both of the situations with Kiev shelling civilians as well as what we see here with these Palestinian kids.

    Here is the thing...

Mainstream/corporate news have grown comfortable with sitting in their news room in New York or Washington or wherever with some politician who is just looking to get elected and what they are doing is they are framing the entire narrative to their audience in a way that ignores a large majority of what is truly happening on the ground. Their viewer/listener base is basically clueless about what is going on abroad and so they thingk that what they are hearing is the real deal.

And so these people who are watching/listening don't really ever know what is happening. This is we ask, you decide 101.

    But everyone already knows this...

Here's my point. What we now have all over the globe where these things are happening are journalists who are actually on the ground and can speak both the language of the people of the country where the tyranny/bloodshed is taking place as well as ENGLISH. You see?

That's important. Because now they have an English speaking audience (who, btw, are funding the nonsense) and are now tuned in directly to the ground and have all of the technology in the world to make a connection with them and get the facts in the 1st person minus the propaganda and spin that they'd normally get on the we ask, you decide box. This is why this particular reporter was yanked and, frankly, is why we see all of the bilingual reporters being taken hostage, beaten and killed over in Ukraine right now. I think they just deported one RT reporter after threatening his life, beating him, and imprisoning him for a week or so. But there have been many, many instances of this.

Mainstream media is in a bad way and they know it. Becoming irrelevant. Credibility is diminishing by the second as is the credibility of those hold political office and who choose to become complicit with that model. And with journalists who report from the ground from abroad IN ENGLISH, these corporate powerhouses will and are retaliating in order to remain relevant or even to defend their role of running interference for certain political interests and those political entities who sit on the other side of the table with them and who fullyintend to run and legislate based upon on the narrative. A great example of how media and politicians get together and force legislation that is premised solely upon propaganda would be what we see now with the so called “Russian Aggression Prevention Act of 2014,” . This is a Bill that would legislate war with a country based solely upon social media/mainstream hoopla.

Anyhoo...It's all about the English language, people. The ability for these journalists to actually interview and communicate with both the people on the ground abroad regarding whatever it is that is happening there AS WELL AS report it in English is the deathblow to we ask, you decide brand of geo-politics and the reporting thereof. Including the we ask, you decide brand of spin that comes from some web sites and discussion forums and other social media.
