Dan Elder for MO House District 1 St. Louis - Accepting Only Bitcoin

    About Dan

My name is Dan Elder, and I'm running for Missouri's 1st Congressional District. I'm running as a Republican, but I dont want to focus on party platforms, old stereotypes, or animosity towards other parties. I want to focus on the issues that matter and real solutions that we need to bring to Washington. My political ideology both separates me from my fellow citizens on both sides of the isle as well as unites me with them. I am fiscally responsible, in most cases even more so than
rank-and-file Republicans. At the same time I am incredibly socially tolerant, I value our rights as individuals more than many Democrats will. I'm hoping that my stances on these two main spectrums of political responsibility are where most of us lean. In short, we need to spend less and stop making laws that hurt people. St. Louis needs a new voice.

I've lived in the St. Louis area since I was 13 years old. I went to high school at Hazelwood Central in Florissant and graduated in 2001. Afterwards, I enlisted in the Missouri Air National Guard where Ive been a member now for over 13 years and hold the rank of Master Sergeant. I have volunteered in support of local flood emergencies twice over the past decade. I was deployed in support of Operation Noble Eagle, the national air defense mission, in 2005. I was deployed to Southwest Asia twice since 9/11, once to the UAE in 2007 and once to Afghanistan in 2012. I've worked as a Department of Defense contractor overseas in that region for several years, as well. I've also worked at several other Defense agencies in the St. Louis area. I currently live in the Fox Park neighborhood of St. Louis City and am proud to call it home. Since becoming politically active after the 2008 elections, I've learned a lot about the issues facing our nation and discovered an ideology that has the answers to these issues. That ideology is found at the root of our system of law in the United States: our Constitution.
Marijuana Prohibition I am for repealing the federal ban oncannabis in all its forms and allowing the states to decide how tohandle it. If the federal government wants to ban marijuana or anyother drug, it must follow the law and pass an amendment to theConstitution, as was done during alcohol prohibition.

National Defense As a veteran, a former DoD contractor, and a senior NCO in the Air Force, I have a fairly good grip on thestate of things, here. I am for bringing ALL of our overseas troopshome to refocus our national defense on OUR nation, not othernations.

Dan Elder, a US House candidate in the 1st Congressional District of Missouri, has announced that he will fund his election campaign solely on bitcoin donations.Starting on 11th July, Elders campaign website will only accept bitcoin donations. The candidate hopes to draw attention to digital currency during both his campaign and, if elected, his time in office.
A decision by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) allows in-kind donations in bitcoin, with a limit of $100. The May decision, prompted by questions from political action committees, opened the doors for campaigns to accept bitcoin from constituents and supporters.

Elder told CoinDesk that digital currency offers a unique way to bring soundness back to the idea of money. The Air National Guard veteran and IT specialist sees bitcoin as a competitive force against fiat currencies, traditional central banking and a risky financial sector.

    He explained:
Im accepting BTC donations to solely fund my campaign to take a stance against the Federal Reserve and its policies which have weakened the US dollar.
I'm a moderator, and I'm glad to help. But I'm an individual -- my words come from me. Any idiocy within should reflect on me, not Ron Paul, and not Ron Paul Forums.

I think accepting ONLY Bitcoin is a mistake, but otherwise looks great.
    Chances? Anyone know?
There is only one success -- to be able to spend your life in your own way.

Exactly, makes one wonder if he is trying to promote bitcoins or run an election campaign

My admiration for him ends where his anti imperialist pro communism ideology starts.
