    Right to bear arms ?

Although as a gun owner and in agreement with open carry, unless in a dangerous area, which I try to avoid, it is not my practice to tote heat when out and about.

However to me "arms" does not necessarily betoken just guns. I can only imagine what kind of reaction one could expect if he or she strolled through a grocery store, into a popular bar, or a seasonal festival wearing a rapier, small word, long sword, fighting ax or something like a Khyber knife?

I recall a time in a grocery store when we were picking up supplies for camping. I had a 15" blade Khyber knife sheathed on my belt and although there were two other fellows openly wearing pistols, a store manager pointed to the big knife then suggested - "Maybe you want to take that back out to your vehicle"

If we can openly carry fire arms then whats the problem if along with a pistol, why would there be so much scrutiny if I carried both a tomahawk and my big knife in say a Walmart or the local 'chain theme bar'?

    Horror movies.

Heros use guns. Psychos use knives.

    Dexter excluded. He was both.

Try to use a glock to skin and dress a buck or clean a trout with a shotgun.

There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

I was speaking to the biased mindset of the store manager in your anecdote.

    Should have clarified I guess.

Yes,, it should apply to any and all arms.
    And it did once.

We are a long way from there.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

One can never be completely certain of what the future has in store. That's why I keep 3 fine hunting bows, several quivers of broad head shafts, two decent muzzle loading rifles, plenty of shot, powder and flints as well as an old recipe for making black powder.

Actually I've a better time sporting and hunting with them.
