Star Trek is just that, it is a nice view of the future, I take some inspiration from it. A lot of what is in that science fiction isn't realistic, it may be possible to recreate a touch of a tech from it, but that is as far as it goes.
When the designers were working out the Altair Lander for the moon mission in the next few years, which certainly won't happen. The craft couldn't be made to be any different as the restrictions are what they are. The ISS was difficult to be built in orbit, the idea of a craft that could travel to the moon within a day and would need to be built in orbit.
Sort of like Project Daedulas, a British planetary institute idea thought of in 1973, but never ever implemented, not suprising!!
That craft dwarfed Mr Van Braun's rocket that took those Astronauts to the moon. It would travel to Bernard's star over fifty years.
Anyway as for property rights, I really don't like the fact that someone would own property on the moon, like Lunar Embassy, David Hope's company. I find it annoying that George W Bush, and Jimmy Carter, and some of Ronald Reagan's relatives own a piece of the moon.
Those callous fools! They could not see the future. In theory I could buy a small piece of land on the moon for a £,$ but no. I won't do such a thing. I agree with the Outer Space treaty, it needs reforming, but it isn't on the agenda as we all know space flight is a very expensive and risky venture. I agree with space tourism in sub orbit, because it would make people think twice about their existence from that altitude above the Earth, at least i would think this would certainly happen to various individuals on take a flight.
Perhaps in theory, a tourist view of the valley of Taurus littrow would be a better agenda.
