    Free Ebooks

I found a new site that offers some 50,000 ebooks for free. (http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Category:Bookshelf)

    Thanks! Great resource.

I hate to go OT, but I'm going to anyway. DH and I decided last night that it's about time we bought an e-book reader. I use kindle for PC but it's hard to read books on a computer. What do you guys like? I am a newb, so I'm not even sure what features I should be looking for. I started reading articles on them and hit the wiki comparison and my eyes glazed over and I gave up. Please just tell me what to buy! TIA!
Based on the idea of natural rights, government secures those rights to the individual by strictly negative intervention, making justice costless and easy of access; and beyond that it does not go. The State, on the other hand, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing.

    I have a large Kindle,small Kindle,27" iMac,and an iPad,all with the Kindle app.
I much prefer the iPad for reading e-books.
Inspired by US Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, this site is dedicated to facilitating grassroots initiatives that aim to restore a sovereign limited constitutional Republic based on the rule of law, states' rights and individual rights. We seek to enshrine the original intent of our Founders to foster respect for private property, seek justice, provide opportunity, and to secure individual liberty for ourselves and our posterity.

Honestly I much prefer paperback. Of all of the ebooks I have, I own the paperback of 90% of them. It's a lot easier on my eyes.

I use Kindle and have the ebooks for the purpose of easily searching for references (that and I can copy/paste excerpts). You can highlight sections and search by that, or simply search by keyword. It is also nice to have an instant dictionary for words you aren't familiar with. Aside from that, there aren't many benefits above the book version.

I've used the Nook and iPad and do not like either of them. You can try fiddling with the brightness adjustment on your computer but there's something about the hertz rate of monitors that bothers my eyes before long.

    Here's the Mises link:
    http://mises.org/media/categories/23...f-No-Authority

The Youtube video is taken from Mises. I believe that is Will Grigg's channel. He received permission to use it. It is a little more convenient as it is in the entirety and not reversed. On Mises Section I is on the bottom and you have to click on the next section every 10 or 15 minutes.

The description of the video, from Will Grigg's Youtube channel is: Murray N. Rothbard considered this essay by Lysander Spooner (1867) "the greatest case for anarchist political philosophy ever written."

I like the Kindle Paperwhite for reading. I have a Kindle Fire and it's fine for goofing off but for an e-reader I would go for a paperwhite.

    Thanks so much, guys!

I like paperbacks too, but my eyes are getting pretty bad. The reason it came up was because I finally ordered A Song of Fire and Ice box set, and DH mentioned the kindle thing, wondering if I wanted to switch to that. I told him if the font is too small that it strains my eyes, I'll send them back and get them for the reader we suddenly want and probably need for my eyes. For the kindle PC, I increased the font and changed the page to sepia and love it. Also dig being able to highlight, and search terms.
