If you're in Virginia, this is the site to bookmark for state-level politics: http://thebullelephant.com
It's now the leading liberty/tea party/conservative blog in the state, and they have made some big waves, including really interesting and exclusive reporting on the Cantor race. They came out of nowhere in the past 6 months to dominate the GOP scene, and its success is a testament to the popularity of the liberty message. It is very possible that the fact that they reported on particular events changed the outcome of the race.
It's also a really good model to replicate elsewhere - create your own local/state news blog, bring in a few people who know what's up and have their ears to the ground in terms of inside party politics.
The four key people are Steve Albertson, lawyer/RPV State Central Committee member; Jeanine Martin, a well-known conservative blogger; Jamie Radtke, local Tea Party leader and former US Senate candidate; and "Alexis Rose Bank", a libertarian housecat. They also get lots of other political players in the state to write articles now and again.
It makes for a really interesting mix and they aren't playing softball. Due to their (possibly decisive) impact on the Cantor race, they had enough political power to intimidate statist Republican delegates into stopping Medicaid expansion in the state - by some reports they swayed 10 GOP votes on two crucial amendments, which put an end to a slimy backdoor deal that was made with the Democrats. This is the kind of media that we're going to need to have on the grassroots level to be the kind of national force that can fight for almost every single district in the country, something that can circumvent controlled media.
