The Farce Is Complete: Joe Biden's Son Joins Board Of Largest Ukraine Gas Producer

The Ruling Class doesn't even try to hide their corruption and self-interest anymore. And why should they? They have no fear of us. The world is theirs, and we're just lucky to be allowed to live in it.

    The farce is complete...

Burisma Holdings, Ukraine’s largest private gas producer, has expanded its Board of Directors by bringing on Mr. R Hunter Biden as a new director.
    [...]
    R. Hunter Biden will be in charge of the Holdings’ legal unit and will provide support for the Company among international organizations. On his new appointment, he commented: “Burisma’s track record of innovations and industry leadership in the field of natural gas means that it can be a strong driver of a strong economy in Ukraine. As a new member of the Board, I believe that my assistance in consulting the Company on matters of transparency, corporate governance and responsibility, international expansion and other priorities will contribute to the economy and benefit the people of Ukraine.”

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Burisma Holdings, Mr. Alan Apter, noted: “The company’s strategy is aimed at the strongest concentration of professional staff and the introduction of best corporate practices, and we’re delighted that Mr. Biden is joining us to help us achieve these goals.”

    R. Hunter Biden is a counsel to Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, a national law firm based in New York, USA, which served in cases including “Bush vs. Gore”, and “U.S. vs. Microsoft”. He is one of the co-founders and a managing partner of the investment advisory company Rosemont Seneca Partners, as well as chairman of the board of Rosemont Seneca Advisors. He is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University’s Masters Program in the School of Foreign Service.
Based on the idea of natural rights, government secures those rights to the individual by strictly negative intervention, making justice costless and easy of access; and beyond that it does not go. The State, on the other hand, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing.

I'm going to start another thread relating to the NSA. Glen Greenwald was on Stephen Colbert last night... Glen and company are getting ready to release the most startling of all... how the US government and NSA target domestically and why. Greenwald stated it will be out in media within the next 4-8 weeks. Colbert stated, "Don't open any packages left on your front door.

NOW, Back to Biden and Ukraine... does anyone need anymore evidence it's the criminal PARTY of ONE, enriching themselves, friends, and family at the expense of the taxpayers?

Nope not at all. Not to mention at the expense of people's lives in the processes.

    Now this is reported today:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2014/0...ia-104247.html

Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) preferred plan for Ukraine: let the market fix it.

The Texas Republican wouldn’t commit to voting for aid for the country fending off Russian President Vladimir Putin’s army — or say whether there would need to be a financial offset to get his support — but argued that neither this nor conservative calls for military exercises are the right approach.

Instead, Cruz argued for immediately passing a new free trade treaty with Ukraine and “looking at existing treaties between the United States and Russia, and considering abrogating those treaties.”

“More important than aid is expanding economic trade — expanding mutually beneficial commerce, helping open the door for energy to flow to Ukraine in the private market,” Cruz said, speaking exclusively to POLITICO after addressing AIPAC’s Texas delegation Tuesday afternoon.

    Isn't that just convenient!

Sorry, I'm a little slow trying to connect the dots.

    Here's what I think I know. Would love feedback/comments/clarifications.

    1. Russia is the world's largest energy exporter, supplying most of western Europe's natural gas via a pipeline through Ukraine, esp. Crimea.
    2. The USA has huge natural gas deposits and is looking for customers.
2a. US does something to provoke Russia??
    3. Russia moves to annex part or all of Ukraine, incl. Crimea, who votes to join Russia.
    4. In response to Russia's move, US & Europe put sanctions on Russia.
    5. Rand Paul recommends Europe buy natural gas from the US.
    6. Biden's son joins board of Ukraine's largest nat. gas producer. Presumably this helps pave the way for US suppliers?
    7. Ted Cruz calls for new trade agreement with Ukraine.

So in the end, did Russia play into our hands, or did we instigate the hostilities between Ukraine & Russia to provoke the Russian response and thus pave the way for sanctions, and our ultimate ability to enter the nat. gas market in Europe?

What are y'all seeing that I'm not?

At MBNA Corporation, Biden was employed as a senior vice president.[7] Following that, Biden was appointed by Bill Clinton to serve in the United States Department of Commerce[7] under Secretaries Norman Mineta and William M. Stanford Had Links to a Fund Run by Bidens

    Updated Feb. 24, 2009 12:01 a.m. ET

A fund of hedge funds run by two members of Vice President Joe Biden's family was marketed exclusively by companies controlled by Texas financier R. Allen Stanford, who is facing Securities and Exchange Commission accusations of engaging in an $8 billion fraud.

The $50 million fund was jointly branded between the Bidens' Paradigm Global Advisors LLC and a Stanford Financial Group entity and was known as the Paradigm Stanford Capital Management Core Alternative Fund. Stanford-related companies marketed the fund to investors and also invested about $2.7 million of their own money in the fund, according to a lawyer for Paradigm. Paradigm Global Advisors is owned through a holding company by the vice president's son, Hunter, and Joe Biden's brother, James.

The fund has offered to turn over the $2.7 million investment it received from Mr. Stanford's firm in 2007 to a court-appointed receiver in the SEC's civil fraud case involving Mr. Stanford, according to Paradigm's attorney, Marc X. LoPresti. The fund terminated its relationship with Mr. Stanford's companies after the SEC filed civil charges against them last week, Mr. LoPresti said.

Mr. LoPresti, who represents Hunter and James Biden, as well as Paradigm, said he didn't know which Stanford entity invested the roughly $2.7 million. He said the Bidens never met or communicated with Mr. Stanford.
"There is no connection between the Bidens and Allen Stanford or Stanford period, full stop," he said. "There never was any meeting between any member of the Biden family, no phone calls, zero correspondence."
The vice president's office had no comment.

Brzezinski delved into the importance of little known Ukraine by explaining in his 1997 book, “Geopolitical pivots are the states whose importance is derived not from their power and motivation but rather from their sensitive location… which in some cases gives them a special role in either defining access to important areas or in denying resources to a significant player.”

“Ukraine, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Turkey and Iran play the role of critically important geopolitical pivots,” he wrote in The Grand Chessboard, a book viewed by many as a blueprint for US world domination.

White House On Biden's Son Joining Ukraine Gas Giant - No Ethical Issues Here
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-0...al-issues-here

Yesterday we were the first to report that none other than Vice President Joe Biden's son was joining the board of Ukraine's largest gas producer. It appears to have signaled peak crony capitalist as the new went viral with almost complete disdain. There was one defender though... as The Washington Examiner reports, The White House brushed off questions about any ethical issues as Jay Carney snapped "Hunter Biden and other members of the Biden family are obviously private citizens, and where they work does not reflect an endorsement by the administration or by the vice-president or president."

Furthermore, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki also responded bluntly to the questions, saying only that Hunter Biden is a private citizen... and when pressed on the fact that Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs - who have been sanctioned and vilified by the US and Europe - were also private citizens she dismissed any concerns...
    [vid]
In other words.. nothing to see here move along and go about your business, people of America...

Perhaps Curtis Ellis, executive director at American Jobs Alliance, summed it up best...

...it is a typical Washington politics to exploit a foreign crisis for personal gain.

“The US … are trying to portray in the most altruistic and platonic fashion possible. However, it is very difficult to disentangle business interests from national interests,” he said.

US gas will be a lot more expensive than the gas from Russia and even then it would take at least 4+ years to start flowing.Even the EU admitted that LNG from the USA is not even an option. On top of everything the Chinese,Japan and the rest of Asia pay a higher price than Europe and if Russia`s gas starts flowing towards China instead of the EU you will see a lot of dissent if not even dissolution of the EU.

Amazing eh? The power of the media airwaves... they work hard at making/deflecting/ignoring/destroying any politician. Partisan zombies glued to TV and Radio hearing what they want to hear is the other half of the equation.

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-0...s-east-ukraine

Recall what we said earlier today: the proxy Ukraine war just like that in Syria preceding it, "is all about energy."

Recall also the following chart showing Ukraine's shale gas deposits, keeping in mind that the Dnieper-Donets basin which lies in the hotly contested eastern part of the nation and where as everyone knows by now a bloody civil war is raging, is the major oil and gas producing region of Ukraine accounting for approximately 90 per cent of Ukrainian production and according to EIA may have 42 tcf of shale gas resources technically recoverable from 197 tcf of risked shale gas in place.
    [...]
Finally, recall our story from May that Joe Biden's son, Hunter, just joined the board of the largest Ukraine gas producer Burisma Holdings.
    [...]
Now put it all together and what happens next should be rather clear.

    * * *

Still confused? It's very simple, really.

In a nutshell Ukraine (or rather its puppetmasters) has decided to let no crisis (staged or otherwise) or rather civil war, go to waste, and while the fighting rages all around, Ukrainian troopers are helping to install shale gas production equipment near the east Ukrainian town of Slavyansk, which was bombed and shelled for the three preceding months, according to local residents cited by Itar Tass. The reason for the scramble? Under peacetime, the process was expected to take many years, during which Europe would be under the energy dictatorship of Putin. But throw in some civil war and few will notice let alone care that a process which was expected to take nearly a decade if not longer while dealing with broad popular objections to fracking, may instead be completed in months!
    [...]
Not only them but also all-important Germany, which two weeks ago announced it would halt shale-gas drilling for the next seven years over groundwater pollution concerns.

Which clearly makes Ukraine, potentially the last place with massive shale gas deposits and no drilling ban, quite valuable to those who want to develop a major source of shale gas, one which reduces Europe's reliance on Russian gas even more, yet one whose future depends on one simple question: who controls East Ukraine?

Because what better way to accelerate "next steps" than to start drilling for gas in the middle of the Donetsk republic as a civil war is waging in all directions, and where public mood has shifted decidedly against the local "separatists" in the aftermath of the MH-17 tragedy.

The punchline: who will develop the gas field in conjunction with Shell (jointly owned by the Netherlands and the UK: the two countries that loathe Putin the most in the aftermath of the MH-17 disaster) which in May 2012 announced a tender for the right to develop the Yuzovka shale gas deposit?
Burisma, Ukraine’s oil and gas production holdings, also has the right to develop the shale gas fields in the Dnieper-Donetsk basin of Eastern Ukraine. The same Burisma where R. Hunter Biden, Joseph's son, was appointed a director two months ago.
    Q.E.D.
