The 90's : Rock That Altered Society and Youth in General

Someone once said that rock in the 90's was garbage; others have said similar, like the rock altered society and youth in general.

I know thrash was dying out in the 90s and this thread is probably looking for grunge, but this song was kind of my anthem. It got me through the Marine Corps.

One thing cool about the 90s is a lot of varying sounds were cool. You'd go to a Rancid concert one day and a Grateful Dead the next.

    Can't forget Ska.

Too much to list. 90s had some great music.
Radical in the sense of being in total, root-and-branch opposition to the existing political system and to the State itself. Radical in the sense of having integrated intellectual opposition to the State with a gut hatred of its pervasive and organized system of crime and injustice. Radical in the sense of a deep commitment to the spirit of liberty and anti-statism that integrates reason and emotion, heart and soul. - M. Rothbard

1992...one of the best of the decade.

Every era has its good and bad music- examples of both can certainly be found. What was meaningful to you will depend mostly on your age. A study a few years back suggested that for boys, the most important music to them was what they listened to in their early 20's (age 23 to be more precise). For girls, the age was less important as to what they liked most. Coming out of the 80's for me, the variety you heard on the radio greatly declined. That (again to me) meant more boring. Something fresh and different was hard to find. It was still being created- just hard to find. In the 80's a crappy song was soon followed by something different and interesting again. Punk, funk, metal, rockabilly, pop, reggae, ska.

Don't like rock? How about a little Soul/R&B? 1992, yet again:

I'll bet. "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume One" got a lot of play. Another from 1992? Must have been quite a year...

I saw them in concert Halloween at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, when they were just making it. They opened for Danzig. Danzig has a live album from that night. Yeah the pit was insane. They wetted the grass area to prevent moshing. It was on a steep slope and everyone kept sliding in a pile. It was fun.
