That is a Patterson 300 series rig drilling in what looks like to me Appalachia - eastern mountains in the background, air packs, and the backyard is set on containment, and a nice, flat graveled pad. Not many other plays that I'm aware of that meet that criteria.Originally Posted by tod evans

I know as you move further east in the GoM, your chances of hitting H2S increase.
Is that the case on land plays as well?

In Appalachia, the only place that I'm aware of it being a real threat is in SE Ohio.
For a period of time, some operators made everyone on site be clean shaven and carry a respirator... which was dumb because, on land, the best defense against H2S is to look at the wind sock or a flag and run the opposite direction it's pointing.
I'm sure at sea it's a different matter altogether, though.
I'm not sure about the other regions that I've been to... It wasn't mentioned much other than in some cases during on site safety trainings.

No, fascism is not communism, even when the people who do it and the people who support it self-identify as Marxists, and call their opponents the fascists that they themselves are. Fascism is the combination of corporations and state, and whether or not the people who are supporting it would rather eat glass than admit it even to themselves, that's what we're up against.
And believe it or not, if we could make people see that, they'd lose a lot of support (and whether we find them useful or not, we'd gain allies).
And if you can't see that's what we're up against right now, you've spent way, way too much time making excuses for fascism, and not enough time seeing it for what it was and is.
