Those who fail to learn from the past are condemned to repeat it.
Those who learn from the past are condemned to watch everybody else repeat it
A Zero Hedge comment
Oh, and a little law targeting the American public...
"And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works." - Bastiat
"It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere." - Voltaire
“The spirits of darkness are now among us. We have to be on guard so that we may realize what is happening when we encounter them and gain a real idea of where they are to be found. The most dangerous thing you can do in the immediate future will be to give yourself up unconsciously to the influences which are definitely present.” ~ Rudolf Steiner
Meh. As "Thing X is just a distraction from Thing Y" narratives go, this one is pretty weak.
I mean, what is there new to say about the "Afghanistan disaster", other than that the Earth has made one full orbit of the Sun since it occurred? Or how many of the people who would be inclined to think that the "FBI/Whitmer entrapment case" is "bad" do not already think so? And so on.
How is "I support/oppose things other than [as distinct from 'in addition to'] the current thing" really any less blinkered, flighty, or capriciously obsessive than the "I support/oppose the current thing [to the exclusion of other things]" phenomenon? (Different sides, same coin.)
How long will it be before the "Trump Raid" is added to the list of things from which we are being distracted by some newer thing?
When is it ever not possible to compose a menu of items that deserve more attention than they are being (or have been) given?
As far as I'm concerned, anything that promotes greater skepticism of the current system (and the people who run it) is a good thing - and so the "Trump Raid" thing belongs on that list at least as much as any other thing on it (maybe even more so at the moment, given that it's easier to lean into recency bias than to work against it).
Pic tax:
