    SCF Endorses T.W. Shannon

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) endorsed T.W. Shannon (R-OK) for U.S. Senate in Oklahoma. Shannon is seeking the Republican nomination to replace retiring U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK). SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins made the following statement:

"T.W. Shannon is a constitutional conservative who will fight to stop the massive spending and debt that are bankrupting our country. T.W. Shannon believes in the principles of freedom that make this country great and will stand up to the big spenders in both parties to balance the budget and stop Obamacare. We're supporting T.W. Shannon because he's a principled conservative, he has strong grassroots support in Oklahoma, and he can win if Americans come together to support his campaign."

SCF launched a new website today so its members can donate directly to T.W. Shannon's campaign, and set a goal of raising $50,000 for Shannon before the end of the month.

    Looks like Brogdon's done for.

He should run for a House seat in 2016.

    This really sucks.

Brogdon said, “The starting point for conservatives must begin with a promise to oppose McConnell, since he continues to give Obama blank checks. Shannon must answer this question, if any of his claims to conservatism are to be believed.”
In an interview on Tulsa’s KFAQ radio station recently (see transcript excerpt below), Shannon hemmed and hawed when asked by radio host Pat Campbell whether he would support Sen. McConnell for minority or majority leader in the U.S. Senate.

(2:59) Pat Campbell: So you’re not going to pull a Bridenstine, though. You’re not going to stand up to leadership. You know, Jim Bridenstine stood up to John Boehner. People said that’s crazy, you’ve committed political suicide.
Seems like a pretty weak move from Shannon. But I suppose he wants the establishment minority candidate campaign support.

“Because of their active involvement on our Advisory Board, we can attest to Speakers Tillis and Shannon’s leadership and results in advancing our common cause for economic opportunity and an effective, efficient government,” said GOPAC Chairman Frank Donatelli.

Brogdon lives inside Bridenstine's house district.

Whenever you see somebody with such a high ranking leadership position at such a young age, it is a sure tell that they are nothing but an establishment shill.

Someone with a high ranking leadership position, regardless of age, is usually an establishment shill. There are, of course, exceptions. The Missouri House Speaker kicks ass. I'm probably going to vote him when he runs for Attorney General in 2016.

Brogdon should run for Bridenstine's seat and Bridenstine for the 2016 Senate rematch.

Did JC Watts and Tim Scott go straight to leadership because they were the only black congressman around? There was a poll that had JC Watts beating Lankford 40-37 but his protege is running.

I tell you who I think is establishment. Mia Love. Mormons and mayors are notorious for being RINOs. Mike Lee is like the exception. Corker(mayor), Heller, Reid, Romney, Flake, and others are big establishment types.

JC Watts went to House Republican Conference Chair in less than 3 years. Tim Scott is probably too conservative for the leadership in Washington.

I'm optimistic towards Love, given her positive comments on Ron Paul.

Yes, but race is one of the reasons why he was appointed to the U.S. Senate. Governor Haley said she wanted to make "a historic appointment". She was, of course, refering to the fact that Scott is the first African-American senator from South Carolina and the first from the South since 1881.
