Report has not be confirmed and seems to be just rumor. Source is reported to be a gold trader in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong-based fund manager William Kaye today tells King World News that Ukraine today airlifted its gold reserves, 33 tons, to New York, presumably for vaulting at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York -- and probably not to be seen again any sooner than they'd be if the Russian army had marched into Kiev to "protect" the gold before it was flown off.

According to IMF figures, as of September, 2014, Ukraine has 1.3 million fine troy ounces of gold reserves at an estimated value of $1.568 billion and about nine percent of reported reserves of $16.384 billion. Not zero.

(They don't say how big the trucks were though). But again, if there were 40 boxes, that is 1,700 pounds a box being "quickly loaded".

What was or wasn't loaded into trucks is not terribly interesting at this point.

The most relevant issue is an actual, honest, open audit of the physical gold in their possession.
