Do Venezuelans deserve the government they have?

Many Venezuelans left their country to escape the oppressive socialist regime of Hugo Chavez/Maduro, came to live in the United States and are now supporting the oppressive socialist regime of Barack Obama. I would never vote for a socialist corrupt politician who abuses power like Obama but many Venezuelans living in the US who can vote unfortunately did that (Obama got 70%+ of the Hispanic vote the last two elections). Haven't the Venezuelans living in the US learned their lesson, they are not supposed to support corrupt politicians who abuse power anywhere in the world? Same could be said for some Cuban exiles living in Miami or any other immigrant/refugee/asylee who fled their home country to escape an oppressive regime. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Here's what a Cuban lady I know told me. Thousands of Venezuelans live in Doral (a city in the Miami/South Florida area).

I stood in line to vote in Doral both times and all Venezuelans around me were supporting Obama, all Democrats on the ballot, and tax hikes like the school bonds. They were all voting on the state amendments according to the what how the Democratic party told them to vote. And, one of those state amendments was against Obamacare. We got into some debates in that line. It was early voting so the line was long and we were standing there for five hours. They were defending all the socialist policies tooth and nail. They even defended the tax hikes for the school bonds after I showed them on my phone all the proof I had of the waste and mismanagement going on in our public schools since I'm a teacher and I know exactly what goes on. They didn't even understand that they were getting a tax increase. They kept arguing that the bonds were already there and that it belonged to the schools and that they were being given for free by the government. They had no concept of how bonds work, etc. and they still didn't care to know because as one venezuelan lady put it....it is the number one job of the government to provide lots of public social services for the people. And the Cubans are the same issue. .those new arrivals coming after the early 80s. You should hear most of them. They love socialism."
How dumb to do you have to be to go vote against the Florida constitutional amendment to nullify Obamacare?

In this video, some Venezuelans can be seen holding a sign that says

    YES to Socialism
    NO to Fascism

The only people who deserve the government they have are the ones who do nothing to prevent it.

Meh. Cubans generally are as vulnerable to Doublespeak and Newspeak as anyone else. I've found that one of the universal traits of the masses everywhere is the desire to be controlled while not calling it such. Rare is the person who claims to be opposed to freedom and liberty and all that jazz-but plenty are the persons who prefer comfortable slavery to difficult freedom.

Do Americans deserve this government we now have here in the USA?

Yes, they can still change it but they shouldn't look farther than a mirror for the blame.

I would disagree with that....if you do not vote/do nothing as you say, you are not responsible for the govt that you get.

    the oppressive socialist regime
They have elections, if you don't like the results and you decide to change things trough other mechanisms, let me tell you, that will turn you the oppressor.
If you like the democratic world, you just have to deal with it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.

I agree with you about voting. I think that those of us who can do something to prevent government have a responsibility to do so. Maybe "deserve" is not the right word. Nobody deserves government except those who promote it. I voted maybe.

Oh please, their elections are a joke and are rigged. The regime's opponents have zero chance to win due to the vote fraud.

You are mistaken here, their system in fact is quite good.
I understand many people wishes to say elections are a fraud, and probably there are a lot of problems just like in many other countries, however elections are not rigged, and electoral system is not a fraudulent one.

This is from an earlier election, the last that chavez won.
