Ex Maine Rep. Pictured Smoking Blunt Tried To Ban Smoking on College Campus

Former Maine State Rep. Pictured Smoking Giant Blunt Tried To Ban Smoking on College Campus

In 2013, the Maine legislature debated L.D. 468, "An Act To Protect Public Health at Public Institutions of Higher Education." This bill would have prohibited smoking on the campus at any college or university in the University of Maine System, the Maine Community College System or the Maine Maritime Academy. One person to speak passionately in favor of this bill was Eder, claiming that the smell of cigarette smoke was impeding his academic success.

My name is John Eder, I am a student at Southern Maine Community College [SMCC], a smoking campus, and I am asking you to please safeguard me and my fellow students from secondhand smoke by providing a healthy, smoke-free environment conducive to learning and success.

I thought socialists were supposed to support equal rights for all? So anywhere it is legal to smoke marijuana it should be legal to smoke cigarettes, cigars and crack? Isn't that a belief that 100% of socialists hold? I guess the French Revolution turned out even worse than the American Revolution.

Anyway, it's nice that Gov. LePage vetoed the bill.

Lower ranks of political office, are the audition positions...

If TPTB approve of your sociopathic-narcissism establishment voting record and self-involved to the point of psychosis and selling out to the demands, you move up the political ladder.

But if you're rejected, you can go back to being a normal American citizen. Politicians are in any dictionary under the word: Hypocrite

    Oh cool!

On that page I learned about this story.

Pious Ali makes history as first African-born Muslim elected to Portland School Board
    http://bangordailynews.com/2013/11/0...-school-board/

It's cool to see that a highly religious Muslim received overwhelming support in such a progressive/non-religious city. Ali is the founder and executive director of Maine Interfaith Youth Alliance according to the article. According to the article, he moved to Portland in 2002 and had no political experience. That's an encouraging sign as a lot of the people on this forum have little political experience when it comes to being elected.

I know a Somalian ran for school board in Lewiston as well, but I don't think he won.

A lot of these local elections here are uncontested, only one candidate. Sometimes there are none, some of our wards official spot here had no candidate. Pretty much get your name on the ballot and you win.

    A lot of pot smokers.

    I wouldn't call what's in the image a blunt. It isn't brown.
