    Marco Rubio On The Record

    - Marco Antonio Rubio was born in Miami, Florida on May 28, 1971. His parents were Cubans who had immigrated to the United States in 1956 and were naturalized as U.S. citizens in 1975. [See “natural born citizen” as required by Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of the US Constitution for President and by the 12th Amendment for Vice President.]

    - America Last: Marco Rubio Wants To Make Your Groceries More Expensive (Higher Tariffs)

    - Senator Marco Rubio has been called the "Crown Prince” of the “Tea Party movement". In June 2012 it was reported that the Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was considering Rubio as a possible running mate, but Romney ultimately selected Paul Ryan.

    - Upon taking office, Rubio hired Cesar Conda, former lobbyist and policy adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney, as his chief of staff.

    - Marco Rubio voted YES on the 2012 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) Indefinite Detention of Americans without the right to due process, quoting “Together, these two sections do the following: they affirm the authority of the executive branch to act within our national interest and they provide the federal government with the tools that are needed to maintain our national security.”

    - Marco Rubio and seven other Republican and Democratic senators, known as the “Gang of Eight” have crafted a sweeping bill and vow to implement Biometric Identification and a National Database, which includes Iris Scans and Fingerprinting, costing taxpayers more than $25 billion to implement.

    - Marco Rubio voted YES on extending the PATRIOT Act's Roving Wiretaps. (Feb 2011)

    - Marco Rubio voted AGAINST S.Amdt. 263 to S.Con.Res. 8 - Senator Rand Paul's budget plan, which would balance in five years, eliminate four Cabinet departments, replace the current tax code with a flat tax, and fundamentally reform all major entitlement programs.

    - Marco Rubio voted AGAINST S.Con.Res. 42 - Senator Rand Paul's budget proposal for fiscal year 2013, which would balance the budget in five year and save over $8 trillion over ten years. This proposal, which closely resembles the one presented by the Tea Party Debt Commission in 2011, would also repeal ObamaCare, block grant Medicaid and other entitlement programs, and reform both Medicare and Social Security. It would also eliminate the Departments of Energy, Education, Housing and Urban Development, and Commerce, repeal Dodd-Frank, expand energy exploration, and privatize the TSA. In short, this is the single boldest and most effective free-market economic proposal to receive a vote in Congress.

    - Marco Rubio voted AGAINST S.Con.Res. 44 - Senator Mike Lee's budget proposal for fiscal year 2013, which would balance the budget in five years and would save $7 trillion over ten years. This bill also contains fundamental tax reform, with a single-rate flat tax for corporations and individuals. It also reforms Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid, curbs regulations, and caps spending.

    - Marco Rubio voted AGAINST S.Con.Res. 20 - Senator Rand Paul’s FY 2012 budget proposal, which would balance the federal budget in five years without raising taxes. It would result in a $19 billion surplus in the first year, without cutting Social Security, Medicare, or Veterans’ Affairs.

    - Marco Rubio voted YES on the Amendment S.Amdt. 2867 to H.R. 4152. The Senate version of this legislation - offered in the form of a substitute amendment to the House version, H.R. 4152 would provide $150 million for direct aid to Ukraine. It would also provide for loan guarantees (meaning that the U.S. taxpayers would be stuck holding the bag if the loans are not paid).

    - Marco Rubio voted YES on Passage of the Bill S. 1086: A bill to reauthorize and improve the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990, and for other purposes. This bill (S. 1086) would reauthorize the Child Care and Development Block Grant program through fiscal 2020 and would further institute new standards for education, health, and safety on child care providers that receive funds under this program. It would also expand the information required from states regarding how they will make use of the funds, as well as require that the states develop plans that include guidelines for training and teaching children from the time they are born until they enroll in kindergarten. The CBO has estimated that implementing this bill would cost $16.8 billion over the 2015-2020 period.

    - Marco Rubio voted YES on Passage of the Bill H.R. 803: An act to amend the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. H.R. 803 would consolidate workforce training programs under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, reauthorize adult-education programs, and reauthorize other workforce-related programs under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This is not to say that workforce training is a bad thing, but such programs are best handled by the private sector, which would surely provide more and better jobs if the federal government were to siphon less money out of the economy for programs to improve the economy.

    - Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) stood with President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and against the rule of law to continue sending foreign aid to Egypt. Under current law, the United States is prohibited from providing financial assistance to countries that have experienced a military coup d’état. http://www.campaignforliberty.org/na...merican-people

    - Marco Rubio Supports an interventionist foreign policy. In a speech, Rubio outlined an aggressive vision of American foreign policy, criticizing his colleagues on the left and the right for supporting a restrained future for the nation. During a time in which American politicians should restrict their attention to domestic issues in the aftermath of the last recession, Rubio stands out as a lawmaker openly willing to pour taxpayer resources into foreign projects and initiatives. "I disagree with voices in my own party who argue we should not engage at all, who warn we should heed the words of John Quincy Adams not to go 'abroad, in search of monsters to destroy,'" he said. "I left the last page of my speech," he said, flipping through the papers and looking to Lieberman for some help. "Does anyone have my last page?" A man on the stage handed him the page, and Rubio went on to finish his address, quoting former British Prime Minister Tony Blair about how interventionism is part of America's "destiny."

    - Marco Rubio, Jim Greer

Jim Greer pleaded guilty to four counts of theft and a single count of money laundering for funneling money from the Republican Party of Florida to a company he set up with his right-hand man. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

The criminal trial of former Republican Party of Florida chair Jim Greer had promised to be embarrassing for party leaders, rising Republican star Marco Rubio and former Gov. Charlie Crist, who is contemplating a new political future as a Democrat.

The plea deal avoided what would have been an embarrassing trial for the state GOP. Some of Florida's most powerful politicians were scheduled as witnesses, including former Gov. Charlie Crist, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and several state House and state Senate leaders.

The trial had threatened to expose the underbelly of Florida's dominant political party and its formerly high-spending ways. Party officials took heat three years ago from revelations of excessive spending at restaurants and luxury hotels on party-issued American Express cards by Republican leaders, including Rubio. Testimony about those expenditures had been expected at the trial.

In 2010, the IRS investigated Rubio for using his Republican Party credit card to charge personal expenses while he was Florida's House Speaker. Of the over $100,000 charged by Rubio, he reimbursed the Party for about $16,000, which he identified as personal expenses used for home repairs, work on his wife's car, and groceries.

Topics also covered in pretrial depositions included allegations of prostitutes at a state GOP fundraiser in the Bahamas, the drinking habits of Crist and intraparty strife. Some of Florida's most powerful politicians were scheduled as witnesses, including Crist, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and several state House and state Senate leaders.

Last speculation I saw was that he was going to announce April 13, based on him renting some "Freedom Tower" venue in Miami. That date would also avoid him being drowned out by Rand's presumptive announcement and tour the week prior.

Are you hearing anything about an earlier date for Rubio?
Brawndo's got what plants crave. Its got electrolytes.

    H. L. Mencken said it best:

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

Not that I am aware of, it was the same speculation that you noted.
