It's basically a tiny tool at the end of a flexible tube.

There are many different tools tools for grabbing, cutting, taking samples...

I've used them for unhooking fish with small mouths.. Just put it in there, fiddle around, once it's on the hook, close the beak and unhook. Works great.

    It's a hay harpoon.

The idea was you stabbed it into a bale of hay, or even loose hay, lifted on the center shank with a sheave and lines, which made the tongs on the side protrude, thus catching the hay to move.

Us engineers don't typically get to use the cool tools, but the contractors frequently send us pictures or videos of them working on our stuff with them.

A really bright laser comes out of that metal tube. The extra bits are to connect different kinds of the same thing to the end of the tube.

So one of those 'extra bits' might project a mouse for the cat?

I saw something last week I am going to have the Mrs get me . It was a Ryobi air inflator that will run off of my Sawzall and drill batteries , 25 FRN's . Be easier then dragging out the air compressor just to put a little air in a wagon tire or small tractor tire etc. I was not even aware of these things .

    Ahh, underarm hair removal, then!

    That's my VFF!

It's called a 'Visual Fault Finder' and it sends an extra bright laser down a fiber optic cable and makes any breaks in the fiber glow cherry red so you can see it from the outside. Very useful for standing on the 5th floor of building 2 connecting a cable you are trying to trace, while someone on the 2nd floor of building 4 looks for which fiber cable has visible flashing light out the other end.

    Just a question,

Anyone ever watch good tools destroyed.
    .
I blew up an M-16 under orders to do so ( gas tube glowed red, then white, and pop)

I watched one of these used to hammer a hardened steel bolt. it destroyed it instantly.. i had sold it, it wasn't mine.

    it still hurt

    I saw it happen

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Honestly that looks more like a part than a tool to me.

Hint: It's a tool often used in HVAC.

Today I got a fancy flashlight that runs off of my drill batteries . I had one once before but only had one battery . I have three batteries that will fit this one . Sweet .

Today , I picked up a spare drill and two more batteries for my drill that also fit my new sawzall , tire inflator and flashlight , got them & a bag for the drill & flashlight at a garage sale for 6 FRN's and traded a 1/4 drive spinner handle that I had bought for 1 FRN at another yard sale this summer.

Well OK, that does sound very useful. But since the laser is so powerful... would it work for hair removal?

That is a good clue. Hmm... could it be a louver wrench, for reaching down ducts and adjusting the angle of the air deflectors?

I doubt it, with the shape of the work end, though. Two round-looking things at right angles. Hmm.....

It's a pitot tube. You measure the air/gas speed with it in pipes and ductwork.
