Before you get too comfortable with Newt Gingrich, do your homework.

Here's Gingrich talking about Dept of Homeland Security six months before 9/11. He knew what was going to happen.

Here he is five days after 9/11, once again repeating the "Homeland Security" meme.

Keep in mind that back in August 2001, if you referred to the United States as the "homeland", people would have looked at you like you had two heads, or had just migrated here from the USSR. The word "homeland" was not in the common lexicon then at all.

And here he is more recently:

"It's almost like they should every once in a while allow an attack to get through."

"I would frankly give them extraordinary ability to eavesdrop. And my first advice to civil libertarians is simple; don't plot with terrorists."

Newt is a smart politician...he knows people are leaning in our direction and knows he has to too If he is going to remain viable

Newt was better in 1993 than he is now. After losing battles to cut government, he gave up. Recently, since libertarian has taken a minor role in the GOP, he has thrown in some talking points here and there.

The good news is that the big whigs apparently see libertarian leaning talk as POPULAR right now.

The bad news is they will attempt to hijack the meaning and the movement just like they did with the tea party.

I only pray that people have woke up enough to be able to filter through BS, but alas, I am not hopeful.

This last round started during the 2012 RNC when he said the party needed to start listening to the grassroots, because their support is needed to win elections. This was a few weeks after the Georgia convention when he got booed for talking about Mitt.

That's it. But many people listen to him, so it's a good thing for him to praise Rand.

Hannity, Levin, Newt, will praise Rand right now. They know which direction the wind is blowing. They aren't sincere when it comes to Rand (solely because he is Ron's son), but it's a charade that has mutual benefits.
