    Video:
    http://www.foreign.senate.gov/hearin...ing-09-04-2013

The entire discussion and vote occurs from 3:01:50 - 3:22:48.

Edit: The time frame above only shows discussion and vote on Rand's amendment. It is not the discussion and vote on the AUMF.

I'm actually impressed that it only lost 10-7, tbh.

Menendez: 3:11:40 "Not a good time to make weighty determinations about the constitution.."

Risch: 3:08 "I would suggest that we take out the word Constitution..."

Kudos to Rand for saying "it's the perfect time" to discuss this.

I don't get why Rand isn't asking his colleagues where the imminent attack is per the war powers act. Many of the Senators are claiming that the conflict is between the Constitution and the war powers act, when it appears to be that they are simply ignoring the allowable exceptions in the war powers act.

    It actually lost 14-5.

Can't be stated enough how bad Flake is becoming.

They said 14-5 at the end but its now reported as 14-4 as there are only 18 members on the committee. The 10-7 vote was on the amended AUMF.

Agreed with Flake. It's amazing how he was one of the few who would vote against Iran sanctions.

    Rubio votes with the enemy.

At 3:22:05 or so, Rubio CLEARLY says "AYE"

All the news is saying he voted "Nay" on the resolution....Anyone else hear the same thing I did?? Why the discrepancy?

The vote was whether to table the amendment not pass it.

There were multiple votes on amendments. He voted Aye to table Rand's amendment. He voted Nay on final passage of the AUMF.

Thanks, I figured that out shortly after posting and watching another 3 minutes of the video.

    Rubio's still a snake.

Rubio thought he was trapping Rand by bringing up Reagan's use of force but Rand simply said that the War Powers Act did not give Reagan the authority.

Actually, Rand's amendment to the AUMF lost 14-4.
The AUMF itself passed 10-7 (with one "present" vote).

I wonder if Boxer objected to being called "Mrs. Boxer" in the roll call?

Motion to table Rand Paul's amendment passes 14-4. The clerk reported 14-5 but as Tsai points out there are only 18 members. Roll call as I heard it:

    Ayes
    Barasso
    Boxer (by proxy)
    Cardin
    Coons
    Corker
    Durbin
    Flake
    Kaine
    Markey
    McCain
    Menendez
    Murphy
    Rubio
    Shaheen

    Nays
    Johnson
    Paul
    Risch
    Udall
Original supporter of Ron Paul since 2007 and lifelong supporter of liberty and the Constitution. I stand with Rand.

I said I could not vote for him last fall after hearing a radio interview with him, where he was warmongering like crazy.
