    The U.S. House of Representatives voted 225-200 on June 20 to legalize the industrial farming of hemp fiber.

    Not quite, but close.
    However, the annual agricultural authorization bill subsequently went down to defeat in the House by a vote of 195 to 234. Sponsors of the amendment hope that it will be revised in conference committee, where it has strong support from both Kentucky senators, Rand Paul and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

    ya it was an amendment to the (thankfully) failed farm bill, now then if you wanna see Hemp legal call those same reps and get them to cosponsor Massies HR 525

    The amendment that actually passed only legalized the growing of hemp at universities for research purposes. It didn't remove hemp form the list of prohibited substances like Rand's bill did. Also, the watered down amendment isn't going to be law since the farm bill failed to pass.
