Dear Fellow Republican,

Last week I announced that Sen. Ted Cruz will be our keynote speaker at the 46th Annual SCGOP Silver Elephant Celebration!

With a theme devoted to honoring Sen. Jim DeMint, we'll once again gather at the State Fairgrounds (Columbia SC) to fellowship and prepare for the coming year.

The 7:00 PM dinner on Friday, May 3, 2013 will celebrate our Republican Party in South Carolina, and past speakers have included Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, George W. Bush and Marco Rubio.

The Silver Elephant Celebration has a tradition of bringing the brightest stars in the GOP to our state! In his short time in officehave we seen Sen. Cruz lead on issues ranging from the deficit to gun rights to efforts to repeal Obamacare. With his diverse background, intrepid work ethic and unparalleled intellect, Senator Cruz is exactly the type of leader we need in Washington and we're honored to have him in Columbia on May 3.

Cruz is an excellent speaker. I listened to his speech the other day at a Texas GOP function. Was totally enthralled and taken in by it. It was a rather long speech but you could have heard a pin drop in that room. Everyone was so focused on him. I ended up being really impressed and feeling rather threatened by it at the same time (being a Rand supporter and all)!
