Time to ditch cable: Comcast bans firearms ads

Comcast Cable, "the nation's largest cable provider," has decided it will not accept firearm and ammunition advertisers in the future.

This decision comes after Comcast has been running ads for some gun and hunting groups for decades. Comcast chose this new position after purchasing NBCUniversal, which has a long-standing ban against firearm, ammunition and firework advertisements.

This move brings Comcast in line with its competitors, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications.

Cox already had a ban similar to the one Comcast has now instituted and Time Warner Cable announced in January that it was banning "ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people."

Gun control advocates praise Comcast's "brave move," while gun store owners say their profession has been unjustly singled out by Comcast.

Maybe next they will ban shows "...showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people."

Yeah right - their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I ditched cable a week after Super Tuesday back in 2008, and haven't looked back.

I haven't ever paid for a cable subscription because I haven't turned on a TV to watch something on cable in 10 years.

You can find anything online anyways. I'd rather not support them. They surely aren't going to remove CSI though. Or First 48. Or COPS. Every other tv show has a gun aimed at someone.

so with everyone "ditching" cable.... where are you getting your internet? cause in my area if your want any speed you're pretty much stuck with Comcast. either that or it's DSL at 2M a second or you use your cell hotspot or get an Aircard, and pay through your nose. Fios didn't turn out to be all Verizon cracked it up to be, if you can even get it in your area. but if you do have it... good for your lucky ass lol you don't need to answer.
