Louisiana law banning felons from owning guns is unconstitutional

A judge ruled Thursday that a Louisiana law prohibiting felons from carrying firearms was in violation of a recently ratified constitutional amendment, according to The Times-Pacayune.

“The courts cannot question the wisdom of fundamental law and frustrate the will of the people; their function is to interpret and apply that law,” he wrote. “After reviewing the law and applying a strict scrutiny standard, the Court finds La R.S. 14:95.1 unconstitutional in its entirety.”

The higher courts will and should find, that any law forbidding any american to the "Right to Bear Arms" to be unconstitutional. However, those who are still on probation or parole. Still have not completed "their debt to society", and should NOT be allowed to own a gun. Why?.. They do not have their full constitutional rights back. Until they fulfill their whole sentence.

Keep in mind, there should be an National Gun Registry for convicted offenders, who committed violent crimes with any weapon. This should be the ONLY gun registry talk in congress right now.

    My 2cents.

If a person that has been in prison cannot be trusted to own a firearm then they should have never been allowed to rejoin society.

A person who has "been in prison" has intimate knowledge of the "Just-Us" departments inner-workings....

Knowing such a person is likely to be a threat to the members of the "Just-Us" department is the driving factor behind disarmament..

There is little to no desire to "protect" the general populace, just self-preservation...

we passed this amendment last year. there were people in the liberty movement who fought against it claiming it would weaken the right to arms, but when I asked how it would- they never could tell me. that didn't keep them from campaigning against it. that amendment will overturn the carry conceal permit once its challenged in court. then we will have total gun freedom.

    from wiki:
The Louisiana Right to Bear Arms Amendment, also known as Constitutional Amendment 2, was a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment on the November 6, 2012 statewide ballot in Louisiana, where it was approved.
This measure fortified existing gun rights in the state. The amendment added the rights to acquire, transport, carry, transfer, and use firearms in addition to the existing right to keep and bear them.[1][2]

I had thought about teaching cooking classes for crawfish boils in other states. its easy to boil crawfish, but its not easy to get the best tasting crawfish.
