NASH WINS BLUFFTON TEA PARTY STRAW POLL

Nash adds to long list of wins among the grassroots of the 1st Congressional District


MOUNT PLEASANT, SC, Mar 11, 2013- Ray Nash handily won the straw poll at Monday night’s Bluffton Tea Party. He beat nearest challenger, John Kuhn, by a three to one margin. In attendance were Nash, Kuhn, Grooms, and Patrick. The scores were as follows:

  • Ray Nash: 58 votes
  • John Kuhn: 19 votes
  • Larry Grooms: 11 votes
  • Andy Patrick: 9 votes
  • Mark Sanford: 4 votes
  • Curtis Bostic: 2 votes
  • Teddy Turner: 1 vote
  • Undecided: 2 votes



The Bluffton Tea Party is a non-partisan organization formed to advance the conservative values of limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets. They held the candidate forum at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Golden Corral on U.S. 278 in Bluffton. The candidates were given time for a brief statement of candidacy and questions were taken from the audience. The event was open to the public.

Mr. Nash has seen enormous momentum among the grassroots recently:

  • He recieved the top score on the Tea Party Score Card at last month’s FreedomWorks Forum.
  • He won the straw poll of the Lowcountry Conservatives in Action He won the straw poll at last week’s Fight for the First Debate, hosted by the RLC of SC, Summerville Patch, and the SC Radio Network.
  • Also last week, he was endorsed by the RLC of SC and the National RLC.
  • He has an ongoing MoneyBOMB, being coordinated by RLCUSA-PAC at www.sendasheriff.com.
  • He has been endorsed by Pro Gun Rights website, 2ndsaver.com

Mr. Nash has been a law enforcement professional for thirty-four years, most recently in Afghanistan as the Criminal Justice Adviser for the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
