- MEDICAID EXPANSION
Medicaid Committee Meeting!
Act Now . . .
Important Obamacare Senate Committee Meeting Rescheduled for Tomorrow!

Tomorrow (Monday, March 11th) the Senate Select Committee on PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) will meet at 1:00PM and may make their decision on expanding Medicaid as part of implementing Obamacare. This meeting was originally scheduled for last Monday, but was postponed. We need to call the following members of the committee tomorrow morning who are on the fence with expanding Medicaid.

Senator Joe Negron; (850) 487-5032

Senator Aaron Bean: (850) 487-5004
Senator Jeff Brandes: (850) 487-5022
Senator Anitere Flores: (850) 487-5037
Senator John Legg: (850) 487-5017
Senator David Simmons: (850) 487-5010

Give your legislators these reasons to reject Medicaid Expansion:

1. The state is under NO OBLIGATION to expand Medicaid. None! Yes, it is "free" money. Money that will come from the pockets of the taxpayers. Think about the effect this will have on your constituents when you accept this "free" money.

2. Medicaid provides substandard healthcare services compared to private insurance, Medicare or insured. Multiple studies have shown that Medicaid patients fare worse than people with no insurance at all, and dramatically worse than privately insured patients.

3. Medicaid reimbursements are less than half of what private insurers would pay for the same service. Because of this, Medicaid enrollees have a difficult time finding physicians who will treat them. Right now, 41% of Florida Doctors reject new Medicaid patients. Even if the PPACA will temporarily raise the reimbursement rate, it will decrease again in 2015 and the state will have no choice but to step in and increase the reimbursement rate in order for Medicaid recipients to have access to medical care.

4. And then there is Medicaid fraud which makes up 5-10% of the Medicaid budget. In dollars, that is $2.1 BILLION a year being paid out to fraudulent Medicaid claims.
