On Friday , 13 1307 when King Phil of France went for the takedown of the Knights Templars because he wanted the money, many of the remaining went to the Knights Hospitallers. The Maltese Knights are the same organization of Hospitallers and Templars . The Malta Knights , while having an oath of poverty were allowed to keep spoils and from 1640's to 1700 were the most effecient pirates in the area.I see no reason though that the Knights of Malta would want a new Pope or one less conservative than the last.
