    Check out what is happening to company bank accounts in Cyprus...

    Taken from a different forum...



    The most of circulating assets on our business Current Account are blocked.
    Over 700k of expropriated money will be used to repay country's debt. Probably we will get back about 20% of this amount in 6-7 years.

    I'm not Russian oligarch, but just European medium size IT business. Thousands of other companies around Cyprus have the same situation.

    The business is definitely ruined, all Cypriot workers to be fired.
    We are moving to small Caribbean country where authorities have more respect to people's assets. Also we are thinking about using Bitcoin to pay wages and for payments between our partners.

    Maybe now people will start seeing the value here. It's all digital anyway. Do you want to be paid in government digital or decentralized digital that the aristocrats can't see?

    The bitcoin part seems a little too convenient and far fetched and appears designed to feed into the bitcoin speculation going on now. Lil bit of the good old "pump and dump". Im calling bs.

    I understand the premise of bitcoins. What I don't buy is that this apparently successful business owner would say he is considering paying his employees and vendors in bitcoins. Im pretty sure both employees and vendors would have a problem with that. Go to the grocery store and try to buy milk and bread for your kids with bitcoins.

    Exactly the same can be said about gold/silver.

    Bitcoin/silver/gold are the revolutions monetary tools for long lasting peace and change.

    "Hey our accounts are locked - we can't get you Euro...can you wait 5 years to be paid? OR will you take these Bitcoin that you can exchange very easily now and you will receive SOMETHING."


    Pretty easy answer when you find yourself in dire straights.

    The internet is NOT a completely centralized organism. Much of the internet is P2P decentralized servers. And it has a lot of potential (unlimited potential) for decentralization.

    You have to buy bitcoins with currency right? How does one buy bitcoins when their currency assets are frozen, as in the case of this company? Does not compute. If he can't pay his employees and vendors in currency, how is he going to pay for the bitcoins to pay the employees and vendors with? So many logical disconnects with this.

    I guess it's possible but even those will run out eventually. And I still don't think his employees or vendors will react favorably to "Hey everyone, Im paying you with this digital money that you can't actually use anywhere except to buy drugs and porn online." The future may well be in bitcoins or some other competing currency but right now he's a moron and deserves to go out of business if he's seriously considering that as a viable solution.
