UK to hold referendum on SECESSION from the European Union before 2017

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...their-say.html
In a speech in central London, Mr Cameron said that it was time to "settle the question" of Britain's relationship with Europe.
He promised that his party's 2015 manifesto would ask for a mandate from the British people for a Conservative government to negotiate a new settlement with Europe.
"It will be a relationship with the Single Market at its heart," he said. "And when we have negotiated that new settlement, we will give the British people a referendum with a very simple in or out choice. To stay in the EU on these new terms; or come out altogether."

The EU is a confederation of 27 European states (7 more are expected to join in the future). There are many high ranking leaders within the EU (associated with a shady organisation known as the Union of European Federalists) that wish to turn it into a full-on federation.

David Cameron, the Conservative Party Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has, (after years of miserably failing to try and take powers from the EU back to the European states) agreed to hold a referendum on British membership of the European Union.

Currently, the polls are in favor of secession, with 47% of the British people supporting it. Many members of Cameron's own party have also campaigned for secession, such as MEP Daniel Hannan and MP Douglas Carswell. A secessionist third party, the UK Independence Party, lead by Nigel Farage, has polled well over the last few months.

Britain's main pro-EU center-left wing parties, the Liberal Democrat Party (the Conservatives' coalition partner) and the Labor Party have been critical of Cameron's move, as have pro-EU politicians on both the right and the left on the European mainland.

Cameron is expected to see a boost in the polls for his decision (the Labor Party's nominee is currently leading him by 13 percentage points.)

I wish his name was Richard Cameron, so we could call him 'Tricky Dick'.

It's great though that he is saying this, as he does keep his promises once he makes them. Scotland leaving the Union before this vote will also help, since the majority of Scots are pro-EU.

Scotland won't leave the United Kingdom. Independence doesn't poll more than 30-32% whereas a 'No' vote to independence consistently polls at 50+%.

Mr. Cameron is only conceding to a referendum on the EU because of UKIP's rise in the poll which would cost the Tories a chance at a majority government next election.

    This.

I doubt it will ever happen, or even if it does they'll rig the vote or just ignore it.

I thought the BBC write up on this was hilarious, and telling. Europeans were dismissing and criticizing it, saying it was 'due to domestic political issues' as if those didn't - and SHOULDN'T matter.

Yeah, the BBC has a strong liberal and pro-EU bias. Most British people don't care what a few politicians and bureaucrats in Brussels, Strasbourg and Frankfurt think of them.

This is good. Im sure my favorite British Politician Nigel Farage of UKIP is happy. Cameron is a liar and deceiver.

    Have a little faith...

Also, independence was only down 8 points in the last unbiased poll.

    21 October 2012 Panelbase 37 45 18 (Support, Oppose, Undecided)
Now consider that the independence campaign has just begun, and that the Jubilee and Olympics are responsible for the bloated anti-independence numbers.

    Scotland will be independent.

Then the UKIP has succeeded in its primary goal. Remember, almost all UKIP members are ex-Tories, as are most voters in non-EU elections.

Understandable why hes not. Should have thought that through.

As for Scotland Secession, Scotland is a labor or in other words Socialist strong hold. They prolly wont quit because they need the money to keep flowin. If they did UK would shift a bit to the right and Scotland...well who knows where theyll end up.

I don't see his point though. UKIP aren't going to be in power before the next election, and they probably won't be even after the next election. The Conservatives couldn't pass the referendum bill through the House of Commons because so many in their own party oppose it. If every Conservative , the DUP, the Green, the 19 euro-sceptic Lab MPs, the one euro-sceptic LD MP and the euro-sceptic independent supported the bill, it would pass 333-308. However, there are more than 25 euro-federalist Conservatives, so it will not pass.
