Should we only trust national-level liberty candidates who are independently wealthy?

I feel very reluctant to put a liberty candidate into office who is going to be dependent on their congressional salary to survive. Especially people who have never had a high paying job before. It seems like it would be really tempting for them to go the way of the typical establishment politician to keep the money coming in. Going from a mall santa claus to a US congressman must be a pretty big shock. On the other hand, put a doctor or successful business man into office and the salary really isn't all that significant to them. Demonstrated success in the private sector should be a prerequisite to our support. Thoughts?

Disagree. Power has the ability to corrupt those of any economic class. Character is more important.
