Not a Sheriff, but the GOVERNOR of the state of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, has now joined the fight!

Maybe a list ought to be made that lists sheriffs who won't stand up for our constitutional rights. Better yet, maybe a "does your sheriff believe in protecting your constitutional rights?" campaign ought to be started.

Yeah I agree. That's why I was asking in the OP if someone could put together all of the mailing addresses info for every Sheriff. Then we could orchestrate a campaign to call them all and find out if they're going to follow their sworn oath or not.

With about 3000 sheriff's in the US, this is akin to 1 or 2 Congresscritters on our side.

Colorado, El Paso County, Sheriff Terry Maketa
First and foremost, I absolutely believe in and stand firmly against, any effort that infringes on the rights of law abiding citizens to own and posses firearms of their choice. Furthermore, I will actively oppose any effort that infringes upon your second amendment rights.
Colorado, Weld County, Sheriff John Cooke
Cooke said he disagrees with the president on every aspect of the proposal, aside from parts aimed at addressing mental- health issues. Cooke said the measures blatantly violate the Second Amendment.

"I'm not going to help him in any way," Cooke said. "I'm not going to enforce it because it's unenforceable and because I don't have the resources. The federal government doesn't have the resources."

Harris-Perry: Gun control may be ‘swifter and more effective’ at local level

    By Samantha Kimmey
    Saturday, January 19, 2013

On her Saturday show, Melissa Harris-Perry discussed the possibility that gun control advocates may want to focus on passing legislation at the local level.

“While many are looking to the White House and Capitol Hill to make sweeping gun reform legislation, perhaps swifter and more effective action is likelier to come at the local level,” she said...

...Harris-Perry said she felt that certain kinds of bans can backfire on gun control advocates and that it can bring up a “18th amendment sort of prohibition problem.”

She wondered if cigarette regulation — which created a “culture change” by making it more difficult to smoke publicly and forcing cigarette companies to educate people on the dangers of tobacco — might be a better model for those who support stronger gun control...
Melissa Harris-Perry was one of the kicker-offers of the Trayvon Martin selective grief jag.
