I'd like to see Joe Miller actually win an election before considering him as a running mate.

    Miller should challenge Murkoswki again.

Begich is up for reelection in 2014 and Alaska has gone redder since 2008.

Yep, this should be an automatic pickup for us for very little effort.

Pickups in 2014 I can see happening are Alaska, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Dakota. Alaska would probably be the easiest of those.

Whatta we got up for LA and SD in terms of talent?

South Dakota's former governor is running, he'll likely win the nomination. LA, not sure. Rep Jeff Landry gets 80-90% on the JBS scorecard.

LOL. Well, at least the title of the article mentioned 2020 as a time frame.

The article makes the argument for kicking the can down the road and waiting for the failure of the establishment Republicans. I say we envision a better near term outcome and make it happen.

    This.

Hillary will likely have a minority running mate, so we might be boxed into also placing a minority on the ticket with Rand. If we don't have a minority on the ticket we will get pounded relentlessly.

Susana Martinez...woman, Hispanic, governor of blue state. She sucks, though.

Raul Labrador: Top 3-5 pro-liberty member in Congress. Considering run for Governor.

He would be in my finalist list even if he wasn't Hispanic. That is just a huge bonus. Also young, family man, Idahoan, immigration reform leader, Mormon.

Ted Cruz would have to be the second choice among Hispanics.

I would choose Rubio before Sandoval(pro-choice), and possible Martinez. But I don't want any of them.

That doesn't help. But Labrador is great. I hope he wins the governorship.

    Ineligible, born in Canada.

Martinez at least is pro-life. I don't think Rand would ever chose a pro-baby-murder candidate.

It seems similar to George Romney's situation.

It might be best to avoid him then and thus the birther controversy.

Miller definitely needs to win a seat before he is considered for anything. That whole plucking a guy out of nowhere deal doesn't work when it comes to a Vice-Presidential running mate. He should be able to challenge Begich. On the strategic front, Alaska is a solid Red state in Presidential elections, why not go for someone in a swing state or at least a softer Red state?

It would be Palin all over again.

I do believe we need to big someone from the west coast though.
