Can we find a real conservative in WV?

I appreciate your optimism! I'm still awaiting a liberty-oriented person to emerge to challenge Capito in the primary.

There must be a decent conservative that can step forward. They will have the money if they can prove themselves in the primary because the outside groups will not want to see Capito the big spender elected.

With regards to Medicare and SS, it takes a special kind of libertarian conservative to win on that. Remember Rand actually intellectually talks about the topic and proposes solutions to keep the program strong. People buy his argument because he is a doctor and has great knowledge on fiscal policy. John Raese was essentially a rich guy just saying let's do away with it. It comes down to message, too.

Rand has never said he would do away with SS, such a position is a losing one.

He has said he would "fix" it through reforms which means raising the retirement age and means testing it.
